Thanks for the reply KUS. I need to rig up to an 8.6 NX so will need a 180-246. I'm going to hold out for a second-hand one if possible. If nothing pops up I will consider bringing a new one up. Cheers.

good luck, you have high hopes, biggest boom, recent carbon model to upgrade yours....8.6 specs are 216-221....a lot more weight in the bigger boom, do you weigh lots to warrant the excess overlap ??

That means I'd be sailing the 8.6 at nearly max boom extension which in my experience is not always ideal. I also use an adjustable out-haul on my bigger sails which requires extra room at the clew. Pondering...

I ended up finding a fair deal on a new Chinook Pro 1 180-246. It was on sale over the holidays at Silent Sports for $799 CAD plus $130 shipping. Still pricey but the best deal I could find especially as it's new.

I would still be open to the same boom in a smaller size if any one is selling second hand. Cheers.

don't forget the 12% taxes  as usual for price comparing...so I figure $1040 or $775US, good sale. $100 less than I could likely do...Volume advantage  but I could maybe match that if you found it and sent it to me...in this case tough to do probably....prices just went up again and I don’t have much older stock :? I could match it for the smaller one or if I can add it to another order to reduce shipping.
Where do they get off charging that kind of dough?? Alu booms a much better option now for those non elitists
