Was expecting a light wind wing day but by the time I rigged it was already too windy for the 5M. A quick switch to the 3.5, which was a handful in the gusts, but there were some BIG holes. Even on the foil I wasn't able to get on a few waves when the wind just disappeared . Waves weren't as big as the day before but still managed to find a few nice ones. Took a break and switched to windsurfing. Felt nice to be back on the board, even made a jibe! Caught a few waves but hunting them down was a lot of work. ... (more)

Super gusty big wind for session 2 of the year... Way OP on my smallest sail but I flattened it out and made it (mostly) work. Not much swell at the start but the wind and waves ramped up quickly. Took my wave board out for a short spin at the end to see if I could remember how. Still not in sailing shape so I didn't last long. Fun afternoon!

Almost a repeat of yesterday but with more wind! A combo of yesterday's RB and last Thursday's Columbia. Big crowd out earlier and then the wind started to ratchet upwards blowing everyone off the water! Weird how a couple isobars squeezing together can do that!

Superb Sunday to Marvelous Monday! With MtnarG rigging 8m, I opted for a 5m. That lasted for about 30min until I feared the winds would rip the wing from my hands. Switched to 4m and that was much more tolerable. Stayed close-in but still got lots of short flag outs right in the bay. Switched to my new/used Code 88L with my 5m. Luckily there was lots of power to get me up and foiling, but OP'd. Switched to 4m and got more used to the Cab but quit when the 4m felt OP'd. Excellent board, thanks DocMark!

I think it will be hard to compare anything to yesterday for a while. And yet today was an also a first. First time I was completely overpowered on a 3m. So much more intense than yesterday. While swell was big, it only looked like it got bigger and better as I exited. While the group was smaller, the stoke was there.

Day 2! Flat and cold at first. Searched all over Ross Bay for some swell for first 20km. Best swells up against Chinese cemetery, but on my lonesome down there and didnt have a leash on. Came back in and Idefix hyped me up for a second session and it was cranking. Swell ramped up at the point and had some nice smooth rollers waist high. On the 1000ma again - an amazing do everything foil for Ross Bay.

Awesome day to go down to the RBFC. Unfortunately the waves kind of flattened out. Needed to go a ways outside to get into some nice rollers. I hope the evening sesh got the good waves. Still a fun time and great wind.

Got a new 5m Slick. Went out with it but as soon as I got past C-lover it was definitely 4m, so went back in after one hitch out. Felt great though. 4m is feeling a bit bagged.

Made it out early, only a few kites on the water. Quite gusty and lots of range in it. Abandoned the lee side of Clover as there were too many holes in the wind on that side. The windward side was great but the flood tide made it a bit sloppy. The wind picked up about half way through and I was hanging into the 10m for the last bit. Glad I came off the water when I did as it looks like it has continued to build.

Lunch break session. Mostly flat but quite steady and slowly ramping up to 25 on the outside. Surprisingly fun considering the tide was making it flattish. Tried a few speedy runs. Keep getting close to breaking 30 knots but should try the faster tail to squeeze an extra knot or two. Pretty wild the 680 will go walking pace without stalling and then take you up to 30 knots without too much drama. A faster wing might help too.

    2.00 hours OR Mako 135x37
Timing was spot on for the wind to go from parasailing flat 10knots to sheep running 17+... had a few nice jumps with the huge sailboat the went by.. couple decent ones in close for the crowds too. back in time for dinner and a margarita! nice waves off clover's west side.. Cook St Proper didn't disappoint with the low tide

That was a fantastic foiling day! Started with the 6m as the winds were not nuking. Well OP'd for the entire 1st session, but not enough to deserve a wing change. Switched to 4m to ease the damage to my arms with reduced wind pull. Learning to flag-out a bit better. Fun playing in the swells with Idefix. Just fantastic.

First spring session at Gordon's and it did not disappoint. When Dave C. and I arrived we could see the wind line and white caps way out there so we took our time getting setup. Given the low tide we parked near the windsurfer public beach entrance and walked up the beach to Tugwell rather than walking the creek. We were the only ones there and the beach looked huge b/c of the low tide. Although I brought my 12m to the beach, by the time we were pumping kites the wind line had come in and it was blowing ... Morning SUP then first wing session on the 5m. Almost no wind to start, after about 20 minutes I almost came in to change to the light wind foil but caught absolute bomb! After that it was on. Waves were hard to find but managed get a few more beauties! Wind picked up to the point I couldn't handle the 5M so took a break and headed back out on the 3.5. By this point even that was too much. Wind was gusting to 30 knots and the waves were starting to get hard to find with the chop. Feeling almost Cape like so ... (more)

Arrived a bit late and it was 30kts easy on the point. Picked 8m which was a good call as it built through the session. It was pretty rowdy by 730 - more 35 than 30. Great to be fully powered on my 8m. Super fun evening.
