Best wavesailing day ever for me. Attempted my first ever frontside ride. Went really well got two turns and rode it all the way in before I ate it. Totally happy. Tried a jibe over a breaking wave and ate it bad, but am getting more fearless. Quite a few backside rides too. There wasn't one trip in toward the beach that I didn't catch a wave. I really like this spot!

Up to Florence Lake for some flat warm water blasting. What an amazingly different environment to the Cape and Pistol - totally unthreatening, warm, mostly shallow enough to stand, a narrow patch of dunes between the ocean and lake. Ripped through a bunch of jibes and tried some tacks and ducks (none sailed out of). Lots of fun to blast around and drag race with JellyF, Kus, the Windsurfishes, and Pat's Oregon friend Guy.

Rigged a flat 4.0 hopefully, by the time it was on the beach and I was in my suit it was gusting over 40 and I decided it was too much. JellyF had got down earlier and was finished her session and offered her 3.7. After offering to pay any damages (  ) I had a couple of runs, very excilerating, getting out was easy when I picked my time, did flop-jibes to come in. With lots of other sailors out the Big Grey Fish seemed less of a risk (psychological mind trick, but effective!). Missed riding a ... (more)

Desperately needed water break. No days off work for 3+ weeks. Saw that wind and a lake might coincide with my commute to the next worksite...brought the gear, and had a surprisingly good time during my 2 hour "detour". 5.8/99L for first 1.5 hours was just right. Just relaxing to mow the lawn in the warm shallow water, despite the algae. Some good port mini ramps for playing on. I'm not sure if it was the easy conditions or the work-induced mild insanity, but I decided to try some forwards, port t ... (more)

Borrowed MF4's 5.0 gear for few early runs, grass to glassss back to grass. Sandy bottom 4' deep most of way across, kinda neat but needed 3 beers hanging on beachfront deck to get motivated again when best wind of the day arrived after everyone had quit.

Thought it might not go. We were talking a trip to PA 'cause the Strait looked pretty tame but made the trip to Piper's to meet Kev and take a look. Turned out so good. A perfect sunny Piper's kinda day. Strang was in the lot when I got there and he called it 5.8... if there's one mutt who knows his sh*t around here it's him, so despite the wind being way out and the calm near the beach I rigged up my 5.9 and never looked back. messy at 1st, better late

Started out on the 5.5 in messy chop and up and down wind, but the wind kicked in good when the clouds cleared up. The swells got pretty big with some nice jump ramps, then the wind really kicked in enough for a 4.0 but I flatened my 4.7 and stayed on it. There were lots of nice waves close to shore for backside rides. That was the most fun I've had at Cook in quite a while. :D

Gorge like up and down and I felt like I was on the wrong gear for the first half. Super smooth swell at times. Good jumps near the end. Good fun. Warm too.

Not the Oregon Coast, but at least there weren't any shark sightings. Super hard to catch air, all the ramps were upwind and awkward. Swells lined up better at the end but the wind got flukey. But, but, but; I shouldn't complain, marathon session, arms dead, tons of fun. Back to work tomorrow :( :( :(

    :) :D

Down to Clover, solid on the 4.5 and swells jacked up sweetly right inside of point on very low tide, great backside wave riding with nice air drops off whitewater. No margin for error tho, sharp and shallow and into the point if messed up - didn't. Best day yet in Victoria for me!!!

    :) :D
