I had a rudder pin work its way out and it locked in a funny angle in high winds, lost control, ended up almost turning over the boat in those waves and near ripped the whole thing off the hull. Managed to finally raise it while almost being flipped in the waves and hobbled in with the other one. Having a shroud break is so easily possible, even dropping the boat hard from a raised hull tack if you release the main suddenly. Helmet time if you're in the harness. yep, helps to have paddles and be close to home :idea:

No Kidding Man! I have double fail safes on my rudder assemblies! That sure is a situation that can be gnarly, you definetly need the to be able to stear. I guess that's the nice thing on a windsurf, you are the steer!
