Which foil and board were you using?

Starboard 143 foilboard and I think starboards medium foil

From what I've heard there are way different feels between the foils. Your experience sounds nothing like the Slingshot. It's more like riding a really turny board that steers with the least bit of pressure, but it can still do great angles.

Hence why I'm looking for a more freeride oriented board to go with it.

I believe it. I think starboard is under the philosophyy you can swap between different wings and stabalizer to affect lift and agle of attack and the sligshot foil you can move the fusalage back and forth?

Probably going to see more adjustments in the future iterations.

The Slingshot really only has two positions and they are quite vocal about the forward one being most optimum. You can set it up to ride off the rear foot but they consider that to be kind of a dead end past the beginning stages.

They are going to be launching some faster wings, carbon masts and more hydrodynamic fuselages.

I've gone and ordered the 4 bolt plate after thinking about how much work I want to put into a $120 board.

Nsi will soon have a quick release mast plate for slingshot. Designed by stringy (Jim string fellow) in Oregon. Supposed to be lighter too. Releases with a cotter pin. May want to cancel your order and get one of those if not too late.

$300 vs $62, might save 2 minutes and weighs an extra pound. I'll pass.

Are they seriously $300? That's crazy

I get that time is money, but damn.....

Wow. I guess they are basing this off the liquid force pricing or other foils, where spare parts are obscene.

For whatever reason, the slingshot mast and base is by far cheapest on the market.

Their wings are among the most expensive. Must be the socket mount.
All their other components seem reasonable however.
