Got there right at happy hour. Super fun swell on the outside of the kelp bed, probably just like yesterday only better. I think I stayed in a 100m section for the first hour. The waves really seemed to come together to form larger swell, if I may be so bold, I'd say they coalesced. Lots of fun BS on the beach after the wind shut off. Looked to be filling in proper W when I left.

Super fun session on my favourite combo: 4m/880. The waves were surprisingly good for the first 45 min, and I spent most of the session trying to get into the right spot to be able carve back and forth on the wave face as much as I could. About 30 min into the session a pod of orcas swam by, which pushed the stoke from a "10" to an "11". I also had a breakthrough with my foot switches on both sides, so I'm feeling good about that. July has been unreal for wind so far in Victoria!

Not much on the early reports, so ruled out a trip down the Hat. Glorious OSR's started to ring in mid-morning. The webcam turned silver, and I was on my way to a fine session on the Bay. Well powered on 3.5/780 combo. Steep swell at the point to Smoothies down the bay :))

Could have been on 3.5 and small board for fist half but glad I was on the big gear for 2nd half. Nice swell right up to the main kelp bed. Got taken down a couple times getting too close. Fun rides. 100% on tacks last couple sessions albeit only tried one per sesh. Hugged the point when it got light. Short swim in once it died and the walk of glory back from Cover.

First attempt before lunch got a couple of boiling runs, but decided to cut it short and not risk a rocky landinig.
Post lunch was fully powered on the Qualicum wind, a weird DW direction. Waves were not setting up much anywhere, and the onshore angle made for.less than ideal conditions. But lots of fun, and.better than a great day at work.

Fantastic RB! 1st sesh was iffy wind with biggish swells so I went with 6m. Good at the start, but way OP'd at the end. New gopro battery and 5m wing for 2nd sesh. But, no, winds had reduced and foilers were slogging back. So stayed with 6m. Great at the start, then winds returned and OP'd again. Another switch for the 3rd sesh to 4m and that was pure joy! Easy wing nav and the winds stayed strong. Some great swell rides with the elite riders, whenever I could keep up. So sad my tank was on E. Hate to leave ... (more)

Excellent first hour. Quality wind, swell on the inside and on the outside. Currents and conflicting swell with an onshore wind pushed the needle to get back up on foil. Second half not so much; a 3.6 m and a sinker comes with consequences when there isn't Only me and shaggy out there for a while. Eerie'lol.

After the past few RB sessions I was skeptical that the wind would last, so I rigged big and was OP'd for the first hour. The waves were not too shabby. For the second half I rigged my 4m and things were much more comfortable. Fun session! My GPS tracks reveal that I unknowingly drew a creepy rudimentary arm and hand over by Cook St.

Sesh was disjointed, much like the conditions. Lots of swell, but fickle winds and weird current flow made for difficult conditions for me. Regardless, nice to get out with Poper, Gee, and others. Clear wind shut off at the end. Lucky I was in the baly already. But, I did bust out the emergency paddle to shorten the loll and slog time.

Foiled out to the windless line and glided to a stop. Sat around with Pope and Gregcan waiting for the wind . Greg decided to paddle in while Pope and i waited for wind and talked house renos. Finally wind came in with some great swell and Shaggy and a few others made it out to the windline , fun while it lasted ,started feeling light so made a beeline for the beach, Matt caught on the outside for a long swim in.

Had dinner and launched into duldrums with just a L.J. and boardshorts (Water is beautifully warm) Paddled the rig 200 meters off beach into a steady light breeze and sailed along the beach and back eddy right to Navy Jack on one tack. Then a short step southbound and tacking again to make 24th st before gybing and heading back in fluky winds. A Lovely and peaceful sunset cruise. Thought of Scarlet Rowing his D9 in Pipers Lagoon. Hope to see you soon. One guy in an FJ left in the same wind at 5:30pm ... (more)

Weird conditions all round: on/off wind, pockets of current, confused swell. While we bobbed around waiting for the wind to come back Mike and I talked about tile saws. Long paddle in!

Suited up ready to go then it died. Watched 4 wingers for 1/2 hour floating around in awesome swell till the current took Pope and WJunkie up to the point and they got on foil. So paddled out from Clover bay to the wind line and scored an hour in very ridable swell. Omen Greg still riding off the point when I left at 8 something.

When RB shows just how flaky it really is in summer, it's best to keep the cussing to a minimum. Because it really was f*@#$ng painful at times. And yet, I still was able to get some great rides out of today. 3 out of 10 but a really solid 100% 3 out of 10 :) Oh yeah, try to avoid cemetery bay. Stealth kelp a many.

After eating lots, headed back out and upwind to find the really flat water. 50kms this morning on the Windfoil so figured I had to do at least that on the Wing. Played a little follow the leader with TnT and BennyD until Benny tried to ram me so stayed away from him for rest of the day. Sunny and really warm all day. Sailed in 3/2 no sleeve wetsuit and colourful shirts. Rain 4-cast for tomorrow so heading to have lunch with my daughter. Loving Van life!! Forecast after tomorrow looks great! Got a little ti ... On the water at 11:45, flew upwind and enjoyed the gusty, flat water. Started picking up so came back and foiled with the Wing crowd TnT, BennyD, Nicky-Nicky and decided to come in for lunch and head out on the Wing.

Yet another steady SW 20-25 at the Spit. Checked out Nexen early afternoon but nobody was there. Got lonely so darted back upwind. Saw Alton Jr pop her surfboard and almost landed a board grab ... maybe she'll land one before the summer ends.
