4th Wing session. Arrived to H-Rock leaving, not a good sign. Both he and Greg-Can were saying it's dropping. Not good. It was 12-15kts and Marky-Mark went out and was on the foil right away. Greg-Can and I headed out and he foiled right away and it took me a couple mins to catch a gust to get going. For the first hour it was good, 12-15kts I'm guessing. Almost a month off the water. W 20-25 on 8m+surfboard with full depower at Spanish Banks. Typical chop almost everywhere except smooth waist high waves outside by the freighters and at Dog Beach. Very few kiters out (Sean on 7m+surfboard and another kite foiler). Spotted 3 wingers out. Good way to end the week with a relatively warm session to scratch my wind itch.

Way too nautical out in the straight ( i find that short period, steep swell quite challenging), but was strong enough i could play inside- had the whole big fishbowl to myself!
Strangely though, i found my hands getting colder than in February- luckily the lack of surf made the pitstop to change gloves and dunk in hot water less of an issue.

Left work early and got to the beach before the crowds for a change. Mostly flat water with chop running down a line from Clover. Wind had a lot of NW in it, you could get to Clover in one reach. Biggish holes at first, filled in more towards the end and threatened to blow hard. Looked black and squally when I left. What a bizarre but amazingly fun combo of wind direction and waves! Heading upwind on stbd straight to the tip of CP with increasingly larger waves coming at you from your port bow! It was an odd way to see the waves coming but totally rideable and great for getting up-swell quickly! You could really head high as you pumped down the backs of each wave. Started out very light but wanted to get out on the 999 , I saw Bobson flying on his 1000cm so thought it would work but lots of lulls and some schlogging waiting for gusts. Then wind and waves ramped up and up until way overpowered on 6M but was running out of time and too lazy to go in for the 4M so made it work. Flagged out rides wing was getting blown everywhere, love the glide of 999.

Should've come down earlier but managed to hit it while it ramped up.. the 10m was juiced to start but it didn't last long.. couple decent jumps then a slash or two.. but it dropped like a rock! Eventually walked in on the south of the point up a ditch and the bank.. landed and said to some kook... don't think you should go out on your 8m! Then they went anyways!!

Another fabulous hour-long session. Ross Bay has been gifting me with prime conditions every time I jump in these days. Well powered even right in the bay. Great to share the swells with Bobson on wing. I kept trying to capture him on GoPro, but my board handling isn't awesome. Floated out and found I was powered on my 4, after 30 minutes went in and pumped up my 3 .. had some good turns on the steep swells, pulled the chute as the rain picked up and had a short paddle in. Good crew out, think I counted 16 wingers!

A fantastic session that i milked till dusk. Arrived and it wasn't looking that great, so chatted a while until Shaggy went out and was making it look fun. Tried my foil at the furthest forward position in track and also used the predrilled baseplate holes for another 1.5cm forward and voila! it was like another level unlocked!! Looked lame when I rocked up. Rigged big with the 1099. Super fun glides linking up 1-2 footers in light wind. Ramped up so switched to 5.0. Then waves ramped up so switched to the Spitfire. Different animal than the 1099. Took some getting used to but was fun to carve some tight turns. Counted 18 wings out.

Way OP at the start but gradually dropped. Wind was really closer to NW at times which allowed for nice larger chop as you get the fetch all the way to Cow Bay. Inside the bay it was near Northerly so had some cool runs sheeted in going almost East on port, with the waves and the apparent wind from that, then sheeted in going WSW out of the bay on starboard, repeat. Very dark cloud came over for most of it. Interesting weather.

Went down to Mill Bay to check it out after work as Yarrow Point was showing 12-15, it had to much West so I decided to check out Shawnigan. Arrived to one winger already out. Rigged big as there was some pretty good lulls. Had a great time linking up the puffs to stay on foil and falling in the fresh water was nice. No need to rinse the gear post session. At one point there was four wings on the water! Fun after work session close to home.

Wind surpassed the forecast and I got out for an easy cruise on the Tiki board. Rob arrived at the same time as me and we both got to enjoy some really nice steady wind and flat-ish water. The wind was really southerly which allowed for an easy start off the reef and also some long reaches between Clover and Finlayson Points. Quick after work sunset LOLO session (Last On Last Off). Long time without winging, so pleased I was about as bad as ever, but not worse. Jibes still elusive, though i touched down on one and had the wing jibed and pulling but still fell in. Did half a dozen out and backs and it lulled so went in. It filled back in, could have sailed till after sunset.

I was overtaking Bobson many times today! No April Fools! Way to fly, Bobson! I only had limited time so I rigged big to ensure flight and not slog. A bit OP'd, but easily tolerable. Had a great time carving in the swells, sometimes even flagged out. Jibes felt remarkably smooth today - that's how good the winds were. Very predictable and even the swells seemed to be very accommodating. There was a bit of flow state happening with the foiling today. I hope that feeling comes back. Great warmth from the sun ... Put in 30 mins on the Windfoil and the wind picked up so came in and rigged the 6.2m Ensis for some Wingfoil practice. God knows I need it.
Got 6 or 7 foiling runs. heading out I pinched upwind so no walk of shame, on the way in I headed off the wind and pumped the crap out of that Wing. The Foiling wasn't the steadiest but got better each run. After seeing the GPS track, 18 minutes of foiling....WooHoo!!!! The last one felt pretty good and almost got a gybe in near the beach, staying dry on all my non-foil ... (more)
