:D Cook st redeems itself. Best session there in a long time. Great starboard ramps :!: smooth on the inside, weird floodtide knarl on the outside. tried lots of forwards, with various techniques, but, still mostly suck at them. windDoc mentioned that for endo forwards to look under your armpit rather than at the clew. tried that, and completed 1/2 an endo and then wham, into the water, hard. Not sure what stopped the rotation, mast, board? got to love water: the ultimate crash pad 8). Thanks to ... (more)

A little cold and cloudy for a "clearing" westerly but good and powered on the 5.8 and fun times on some port ramps. Tried a couple of table-tops on port for the first time - a little off kilter but landed on my feet. Thanks to Chewy for giving me a ride! Hoping for a 2nd sesh tonight.

:DThe wind was onshore when we got there but our patience was rewarded an hour later when the W wind pushed in. I sailed the 5.6 for a while till the wind got better on the inside and I was mega powered farther out, then switched to the 4.7. This was one of the better jumping days I've seen there as the ramps had steep faces that you could hit straight on. Later in the session the swell was head high 500' from shore and BWD and I had lots of fun rides on the smooth rollers. I could have been on my 4.0 on th ... (more)

What a blast that was, quite a bit over on 5.8, couldda been on 5.0, glad I had it later near end to get home  Long great wave sesh on this S wind w/ no breaks, MF4 trying himself in the break :!: Not many ramps :(

Excellent session. Didn't look like nearly as much wind as there was, and there was a bubble all along the shore, but out a little way I was a bit OP the whole time. Downhauled/out to max, still OP. I called it a day and came in, wind died off not long after. Made a few gybes each way. Some very fast runs braod reaching to the stairs. Followed Kus way E and buried the sail, took a while to start, and distressingly close to Clover Pt. First time I'd sailed Cook on a S, kinda fun!

Wingnut and I were awarded big time for our patience. Got there at 2:30 and it looked marginal. As we waited it got even more marginal and a big bubble formed near shore and it started to blow SE  . At 4pm the bubble burst and it filled right into shore. Took the big gear out (5.0/RRD) and it was great, but mostly overpowered. Sailed like that for an hour or so then it really came on. Rigged the small stuff then it dropped. Went back out on the big stuff, then it picked up. Then for the last hour it ... (more)

Steadiest build I've seen @JR, barely planing start, OP near end, occ. nice waverides, waves on small side, nice swell further out. Bitch keeping upwind, big fin in Jesus worked ok, Art & Giles also playing in rivermouth, Sewers a bit light but odd gust & wave made 4 screaming rides in. Lotsa wind far out. I came a little late. First had to slog out for about 200m just to get it going, stayed on the outside for a while, then the wind filled in but the swell disappeared.

Great jumps, tried popping board on port tack, duck jibes, tack ( I still suck ), backside riding, switch stance clew first frontside :D

Tons of fun, good company BWD, Mark, MW, WingNut, and a new guy from Vancouver by the name Rick.

Saw couple of mating otters right on the beach next to the lot. I wish I had my camera with me.

Could have been on the 12m the whole time, but it didnt' matter since it was so crazy lifty! Off the water by 5:00 for a change.

:D What a great day! Started out a bit light for 4.7 so I switched to the 5.6 and was flying on that. Soon the wind was 4.0 on the outside where I stayed most of the time. Early on the swell was smooth and chop-free and great for really powered up jumps. Got choppier as the day went on but was still quite windy at 7 pm. Felt like summertime sailing. 8)

OK session. A bit holey for a SW, it's usually nice and steady :? . I rigged the big stuff as it was a bit light near shore but I could've been on my 5.4 and smaller board further out. Nice steady wind and some sweet steep ramps too. Not what you want to see when you're on big gear though :(

I was pretty OP'd on the 7.5 but hung on for some white knuckled rides  Jibes sucked today. I think I need lots more TOW!!

Launched 3:30pm at the east boat ramp at Cattle point. Tide was ebbing strong and wind was marginal at first so I stayed out of the current and stuck to the mouth of Caddy Bay. Gusts started coming with more frequency and stronger later. So I was able to venture a little further away. Lots of boats out.

I thought it would be too offshore but instead it was the first Piper's norwester of the summer. The wind shadow is a little annoying but it was steady planing beyond the channel marker. Mostly cruising, tried some tricks ... my freestyle abilities are pretty dismal  . Beauty day and amazing scenery with snow covered Coast Mountains in background and lots of potential webcam hosts in the foreground  .

Another day when it looked windy but really wasn't...good low wind practice. Kept teasing and held us there for 2hrs. Sunny and warm. Should have been there at 9am.

Got to Cattle Pt thinking "holy, it's windy"(~22), rigged 5.8 playing w/ Morewind's lacing bit (error#1) & got Jesus out, by time finally hit H2O barely planing, BWD shows & Morley reports IV up, we're off to Agate (error#2 leaving wind) Instant replay there, from 5.0 to kiting weather (strangely didn't have it along  error#3, teased 2 hrs). Planed both places but not for very long, a downwind standing 360 in the sun was the highlight.

Sail 2 Wave 2 Jump 0 Beauty day tho

It looked really windy early on, unfortunately looks can be deceiving. Wasn't enough for the 4.7/small board so I rigged bigger. Had fun on the 5.6 but still marginal at times. Shoulda gone to Gordon's. :(
