Headed over for 2 days with FOLO for two days of R&R at the lake. Missed the 5:15 am ferry so took the 7am Victoria ferry. Got to the lake at noon and was on the water at 1 pm. Got some time on both boards. It punched up a little in the mid-afternoon so got to ride the Kombat. Fun times. Had some wine with Windsurfish, Janetfish, FOLO (George) and crashed hard in the back of my car. Woke up at 2am with an uninstalled windshield wiper sticking in my back. Note to self: Remember the air mattress n ... (more)

Fun day with the crew. Sadly the very last day on my wave 253, my repair held well, but rest of the board simply desintegrated around it. Can't complain though-i got my moneys worth out of that stick!

Thanks to winddoc for loaning me his EVO to finish my session off with. Sweet ride!

Jumped to the kite after a long windsurfing session. Breakthrough jumping day! Finally started pulling the trigger on some jumps. Managed no harsh landings and many buttery ones even from decent height. The wind was super steady, making it easy to boost. Good fun!

Thursday was cold and damp, with no wind so it was nice to see the sun again. Spent most of the day watching Sandra finish her 2 day free kite lesson courtesy of the IKO instructor training camp. She's hooked. Anybody got a kite for sale

Went out later and was mostly uninspired as I was needing a big wind fix. PLaning on the big board but was craving the liitle board. It's funny how picky you get about the conditions when you've been there all week. CAmpground starting to get packed in.

Just got back from another 3 day weekend at Nitinat. No longer taking kiting lessons, but instead doing launches and landings with my buddy. Focued on that, and some across lake body drags. Took me a while to figure out my ONE bridle, otherwise a great weekend. Wind kicked in all days, and the sun was shining all day every day! Thanks to Phil and a couple of other's for helping with my launches.

I lucked out with kiting lessons (end of June/08) with the IKO certification of instructors. Thanks to Marie (Elevation Kiteboarding school) for signing me up for that.

How fortunate to have 4 different instructors go over the basics ie.wind thoery, safety, gear, rigging, trainer kite flying, a little body dragging, self rescue and landing/relaunching the kite. Thanks to Rod (Vancouver), Brianna (Gorge), Dean (Penticton), Johanna (Vancouver), and Matt (Vancouver) for my gentle introduction to this amazing ... (more)

Fogbank this morning. I was up at 6:45am and saw a wind line starting at the head of the lake. It was a bit up and down through the day but got really good later on. Lots of airtime! The wind blew from early this morning and didn't shut off until mid morning the next day. It was capping all night! Cold too. Crazy!

Last day of a four day trip with wind and sun everyday. Lots of highlights on this trip thanks to the W247 family and Kelly and Jen. Kelly put a whole new meaning on 'arrival of frontal system' ...... oh, where was the camera!

Kitemare unfolded in the trees above our campsite. Dale had to climb two trees to untangle that mess ...... got pictures of that. Fun sailing, wonderful friends, good books and great discussions. Left with a very good vibe and found the road grated! Back soon to stock up on more!!!

:D Finally, good wind to try my new 10m Rise. Broke it out of the bag after waiting a month for the opportunity, and it didn't dissapoint! Although I could have used a bit more wind, it was effortless to keep going even when the wind dropped. Sunny, warm, and nice to see so many kiters out enjoying the sunshine. Spotted a very rare animal on the water, a Zsana Tulcsik - yes, Soozy was out kiting! Pissed that I had to leave just when the wind was coming on strong... :(

The wind slowly and steadily built until 5:30 pm when I was blown off the water by massive gusts. Per iWindsurf it started blowing 24+ right at 5:30 pm. Jellyfish was nice enough to loan me her new KA 5.9. Nice to have clean monofilm again! Nice slalom blasting today - mostly 5.9 and the JP. Spent some time at the bottom of the lake towing a deserted kiter back to his kite. It was fun to sail in a new part of the lake. When I got back Jellyfish was in need of her 5.9 so I took out the bigger board with a 5.4 and played a bit more. Empty lake again.

Good short sesh with rookie ryan. First time fully powered on the 12M diablo, I really like that kite 8) ! A little bit gusty and quite choppy, but still lots of fun. Stayed upwind for a while but eventaully lost ground after some big bails. Getting more confident with the equiptment. Tried my first airs today!!! The first was about 4-5 feet and floaty, then the second 8-10 feet :D !!!!! I landed both of them without dunking either, I see lots of potential. Quite an adventure after that, ryan lost his kite ... (more)

Gone out for a teaching lession on my big Starboard Start board. I followed on the Bic 148 L. My friend did a lot better this time then last, no wave this time and he even got on a plane so he know what that's like. Teaching works good when you have another board to lead with so he can copy you sail moves. Good session giving another lession next week.

Stopped by I.V. on what was supposed to be a Gordos trip & was pleasantly surprised to score a sweet session ... Sailed S. to the campground & enjoyed some flat water fun ... Considered heading for Parker park / Cordova bay but the wind turned S.S.E. & cruised back to I.V. to avoid the big swim ... 8)

Rigged 8.0/133 for what looked to be a decent slalom style session..... except the mast broke on my second tack. Clean transverse shear right above the boom clamp while I was pumping the sail. Ouch! Thank god it happened near shore instead of out by the Winchelsea Islands or I would have been up shit creek.

Thanks to Jon for helping me get my gear out of the water. Rigged 6.9 and saved the day with an hour of mellow light wind sailing.
