Superb Nitinat day  . Spent an hour and a half in the morning giving a lesson to a newbie from Calgary. She got the Kona going, but couldn't get it turned around in the 20-25 knot wind. After getting the board back with the help of Strong KB, I almost had the Kona planing with a 3.7. Then sailed the smaller gear. Forgot the GPS till late and I was tired, but 42 kmph - must have been around 50 early on on OP downwinders in the smooth water between waves. A few little chop hops sailed away fr ... (more)

great Kook day :D lots going on. inspired by WDocs and BWD's shove-its. Lots of the usuals out sailing hard  I was somewhat lacking the vigor needed to throw much hate. A couple of low altitude loops, one almost grubbilike at the end, unintended for sure

some excitement came in the form of a smackdown between my HEvo and RD's freestyle wave. Bodies came out ok, both boards a bit bruised, but coulda been worse. 8)

So fun! Warm, sunny, eventually pretty windy. Had lots of fun forwards, couldn't line up any backs. Shuvits are coming along and BWD was getting some sweet ones. Morewind had a great low level spinloop today that was impressive. Everyone seemed pretty stoked except for RD after his down the line board meeting with morewinds fin of Hate. Great day that made up for yesterday's crapwich.

Attepted unhooked at the end but I think the 13m is too powerful for that, or my arms are chicken loop weak. :D

Maybe the fact I haven't sailed all winter has something to do with it!

Played around for an hour and came in, hands frozen - most fingers gone white. Wind came up later for some nice speed runs with more people on the water. 42 kmph. Bloody cold in the campsite, passing drizzle fronts all day. Crabfest for supper!!! Thanks, AC!!!!!!!

:D Fan-flippin-tastic!! started out at 1pm, blowing 15kts, sailed up to Kook and it was quite light on the inside so went waaaaay out and it picked up to over 20kts which made for an exciting run downwind as it was quite lumpy off Clover. Sailed down to Trial and back a few times then some speed runs on the insdie. 43.5 km/h max speed and 37km total distance. Fun Times!! :D :D :D

Dunno 'bout the wild freestyle thing unless slogging with a sour face counts. High "Meh" factor. Completed absolutely no tricks today. Downwind Dave was hittin' the grubbies hard and Tom was tossing lots of vulcans along with BWD. Tried RD's 88 L Fanatic and it had me planing in the mid-teens. Impressive. Gotta get me a FSW one day.

Friday PM worth the gas! I was the only one sailing from 5:30 till just before 8. Loads of wind tempted me out at about 7 with smaller gear, was great for two runs then drop a jibe and "uh-oh" and notice no leaves even fluttering on the far shore. Finally started on a puff, went back to the Kona and flew for another half hour or more, still enough to plane through jibes. Made all but two jibes and planed through a bunch. Love Nitinat! 44 km top.

My first day sailing since last August. And the first time on a Sailworks Retro. It took me a run or two to dial in the harness lines and figure out sailing again but I did makel most of the jibes. It was classic Harrison....cold, fresh water, nice scenery and super flat speed runs behind the breakwater....solid 17 - 18 wind the whole time on flat water. Perfect 8.5. Good to be back.

Sweet first of the summer session for myself at Nitinat today!!! Had the day off work so decided to make a day trip and it paid-off. Arrived at 1200 saw only a couple of kiters on the water and quickly rigged to join them. Was well powerd on my 10m and the wind almost seemed to die about 1 hour into it but it kicked back up again to end the session on a high note. Can't wait to get back up there :D :D

Barely planing some of the time, slogging mostly. Mark and I gave up on it around 6:15 and were about to de-rig when it filled in to 4.7 - 5.0 wind. Had a fun half hour at the end then it petered out again.

Classic Nitinaht 6.0. Started light, but ~1/2 the session on 95L. An oreo cookie wind, soft in the middle. Nice to see Rodger and Graham. Nice!! Came up at ~5PM for golden hour 5.0, but I was packed and had enough for the day....

A great afternoon to clear out the kiting cobwebs!

Moderately powered with some light spots.

Tried lots of back rolls today, made some and stuffed some!

The 12m Rise was the call today, the low end "pull" made it easy to stay upwind in the light spots.

The bridal mods definitely made a big difference in turning and over all handling.

Starting to learn the subtleties of the power settings and bar position, ie. let the kite "breathe", don't oversheet.
