A catch as you can kind of day.

Worked on the bridal mods on the 12m Rise. Thanks, Ross.

Light wind but the mods definitely made a difference.

managed to get upwind for a bit, a few jumps and turns but the wind decided to disappear rather abruptly.

Made it back to the beach though!

Light at first, then a bit stronger later. Choppy water and uninspired kiting for the most part, but good to get out on the water and get some excercise. Used the Mini Mako for the whole session and was very impressed with its upwind ability. Equal to or better than most boards that are much bigger - it makes maximum use of its length and concave.

stepped into the water closer to 6 than 5 oclock, and slogged past those orange buoys a good hundred yards before the 4.7 would plane, but things were great on the outside and it even filled in closer to shore than the buoys after awhile, then after an hour or so it was downhill. Tide was running fast so i never once saw my board point as high as the launch after that big slog out. Too much fun on the outs for me to hurry in, little voice in my ear told me i'd make it back with no swim, but i did get to w ... (more)

:D Got there after 3:30 to find the place deserted and nice wind offshore/ light inside. Was very UP inside but was able to make it to the wind line and then I could've been on my 4.7. About a mile out the swell was coming thru shoulder high in a strip about 100 m. wide. Soon Mark joined me and we spent most of our time playing in the rollers. 8)

Pastadude and W. Rancheros were rigging as I came off the water but the hole on the inside was getting bigger so I don't know how they did.

All of a sudden it was 20+kts. Superfun speed runs inside Clover. Tweezer is amazing holding down his 9.8m. Only clocked 42.2km/h as it was still a bit lumpy. 11km distance. The new STARBOARD FE board is FUNTASTIC!! :D Finished at 7:30pm and went for burger and beer at Ross Bay Pub! YUMM!

Gusts were OK but they got fewer and weaker. Kona salvaged a few more runs. Hey BWD according to the Gordos weather stn, it was gusting 25 on the beach when I first went out. I would have guessed 20. Even when everyone was out together early on it was still gusting 23 or so. Is it calibrated? Are we calibrated?

Bizzare wind today, superlo tide, started bigtime OP, held on for 1/2 but better w/ smaller board. Had fun for ~1hr, then it died. Did a little exploring on the reef (THERE ARE SEA URCHINS!! Who knew :?:) & in kelpbeds, came back very light. Played Mr. Balletdood for a long while, got a long run out only to have it die   but made it back to kelpbed heaven  This went on for a bit til my arms r extended by ~2".
