    8) Launched at Ross Bay in super flat water, very relaxing sailing when it's that flat. Wind was more west than usual which made it easy to cruise up to cook street to join Kus and some kiters for a few runs. Someone needs to draw me a map of the reefs out there, got a little sketched out cruising in to the beach when powered up with my half meter+ fin. Kus seemed to know where the rocks are, he was practicing flippy tricks of some flavour right at the beach.

Sailing back downwind to Ross was fun but a ... (more)

Did I say that Friday the 13th was my lucky day... :D :D :D :D Absolutely crazy PM session. It was still honking when unrigging.... Sailed a mix of 4.0/4.5, bith overpowered at times. NUKIN, NUKIN, NUKIN. A few wave/swells at 3/4 mast on outside. Many walks b/c my jibes were zero and the longshore drift intense. An excellent treat to finish off a busy semester. Still loop free, but in a few gusts, it was almost (read scared to try) tempting.... Nice to see the board members ... (more)

Friday the 13th proved to be my lucky day! Fedex called 15 min before I left for CB with BWD to let me know my new custom board had arrived 4 days early! Sweet! Dave and I scored the AM/early-ish afternoon session in the biggest waves I've ever seen at CB. Epic is a term that's over used but this day was the best I've ever had on the Island. To score a day like this with a brand new made for me wave board was just too perfect. Dave Strang (sp?) and I scored the 2 largest outside waves I've seen at CB, and b ... (more)

Firstly, I would like to thank Larry for letting me use his 12m Bronco, without his kite it would have been a bad session.

Only brought small kites, tried getting out on the 10m and couldn't stay upwind and about to call it a day, Larry's 12m to the rescue....it was fun and I am glad I stayed...patience paid off. :D

Pure blissful hate. Made it up to hit the water right around 4 pm. Missed the am crowd but had a sweet session with Bean, windsurfish, DWD ,Gene and Johnny (summer bootie) Atkinson. Was totally wound on the 4.2 for a looong time. Arms are very long. Couple close backies few spinny wound up fwds -no big ones- too much power and fear. Iced the hands with  a couple cold ones with some pals in Nanaimo watching the Canucks get worked by Dallas. Excellent evening!

A real nuker. Waves were large but a little confused. The ones I did time right were amazing - even got my first little aerial off the lip today. A couple of backs and forwards including some sky high bail-outs. Ankle's bugging me though. Great turnout and props to Mattdog and Snapper for some impressive big wind and wave kiting.

Probably my most fun and dialled 30+ session. The wind was incredibly un-gusty, it got stronger and more more steady up to 6:00. Perfectly powered on a 5m flat kite. I think the wave quality diminished with the tide - i was having trouble timing faces for cutbacks and they were closing out, but who's complaining. The lack of chop even on the outside was unusual. Some big ocean size swell too. Actually got some scary big air with a 5m kite - fun.

Arrived at 10am with Winddoc and the wind was just filling in. It looked light but the waves were nice so I rigged the 4.5 anyway. Got on the water and it was the weirdest thing - powered up 4.5 and big clean glassy waves. It felt like Maui. Tried 1 fwd and some backs then the real wind came. 30kts, powered 4.0 and BIG meaty waves. Excellent waveriding and jumping and powerful Oregon Coast style waves. Thought it seemed a bit light once I was out, daggerboarded up around Clover Point, one paraglider left that landed shortly, no sign of kiters so I turned around and floated back on a flat sea. Good to get out sailing at Cook St. The wind was up and down with lots of holes. Lots of action. Not too much success with vulcans today, kept on forgetting things like jumping the board, letting go of the boom, important stuff like that. One day I'll be able to remember to do it all and be able to vulcan on demand. Nice day to be on the water and at the beach though.

After sitting on the fence at Cook watching and chatting after 5, decided the wind might be gone for using small stuff. Went to Ross with the big board and sensibly rigged for gusts. Several nice runs on the outside then a big black cloud came in with a roar. Some survival runs with too much sail even in the bay and the hands got too cold and it tried to hail. I see Ogden was logging 40 knots at the time, I know the 5.8 was a handful! I decieded to quit and of course by the time I was packed up the win ... (more)

Meh. Crappy gusty, on-and-off wind, sun, rain, hail. Had to leave for work at noon - probably just as well.

Gusty, squally, sunny, rain and hail. Nice turnout. Felt a bit stokeless but it was great to get out. Crazy action on the water: Morewind working on geckos, Winddoc doing big dry endos near shore, Kus cranking monkeys, Tom going for vulcans and Wingnut jumping so high he was getting nosebleeds...good times.
