Got there at 12:30 and the tide was already waaay out. Rigged the 4.7 but found I had my hands full in the gusty conditions, so after a few runs I went to the 4.0 but by the time I got out there the wind had backed off a bit and it was hard to stay upwind so it was back to the 4.7. :? The waves in the break zone were smooth 2 -4' but outside they were 4 -6' swells and very choppy. Lots of good jumping opportunities. I was the only one there until I was derigging then Paul came out and started throwing back ... (more)

:D that was some fun! i arrived during a lull and had to milk the 4.7 for a bit but then it was re-rig time. actually had a shadow loom over me on one bottom turn, that was unreal. loops were going well today including my first ever one-footer when my foot slipped out. I even nailed a couple morewind style insta-tacks. good crew out there including some stellar kite-wave slashing. i claim no credit any push loop mentioned below- "out-of-control backie attempt" ok!

Made about 8 jibes, good for me with the amount I've sailed this year, just would have liked to have been out there for a couple of hours but the sun set over langford as the wind started to die.

:D :D Oh yeah :!: Wicked Kook outing.

Started out a bit slow, then got stoked by Tom wailing Vulcans, and DWD throwing push loops. By luck, conditions fit perfectly with my narrow range of loop comfort, steep chop, small sail, and 25-30 knots. Threw the best loops I've ever done, not windDoc quality, but decent for me.

:D Yahoo! That was a great sesh at Gordo's. Arrived at 11:30 to find the place deserted, but after sailing alone for a short time I was glad to see pastadude roll in. The wind was a little inconsistent at first due to the squalls but soon the sun took over and the wind got better and better. I didn't stay on the 5.5 for long and soon was thinking about rigging the 4.0 but decided to stick with the 4.7. The tide was flooding fast and the swells and shore break got bigger quickly. You had to time the launch ... (more)

Awesome day, good to get out in some good wind. Mike was throwing some sick forwards. Today was confirmation windsurfing is the raddest sport ever. Thanks to the office reorganizers redoing the cube configuration in my office, I got out of work early. I threw a few vulcans, but they definately need much more work. My goal is to sail out of a spock at the end of the summer, we will see.

Wind was surprisingly steady in the bay and Cook St still scares me. Tried a small old board that I had kicking around. Shortly after launching I noticed I was sinking the board a little more than I remembered, then the mast base blew apart. Upon further inspection the board has a number of cracks, and the old mast base is pretty much shot (Is the board supposed to bubble when I sink it?). Time for a newer board, something that I can uphaul on, but smaller than my behemoth. Spring is here, time for new gear ... (more)

:D Finally a decent day at Cook. Sailed the 4.7 for the first 40 min. then the wind started to die on the inside so I rigged the 5.5 and stayed on it the rest of the session although there were lots of times when I could've been on the smaller sail. Early on had the best surface conditions - smooth swells and no bad chop. After that the ebb tide made the chop get worse and the surface got flatter as the day went on. This was one of the least gusty days I've had at Cook in a long time. 8)

Last day in windsurfing heaven. Worked on broad reach vulcans but felt sketched to try grubbies. Sailed with Vadardog for a bit and was impressed with his sailing considering it's been 2 years since his last windsurfing session! Sailed away from a few port loops. Learned some good technique tips for freestyle. Super stoked! Looking forward to sailing with the boys back home again. What a great trip!!

Not what I was expecting but at least we got something. Arrived at noon with Wingnut to 5.0 conditions. Then it dropped and we waited, and waited. Then saw the locals go out on 5.0's, so we tried. Good fun for a while. Not epic, but some good loop ramps. Tried some sad vulcans. Lots of angry sea lions and lots of rain. Super low tide.

Can't trust the model or EC gale warnings anymore. I guess we need a storm warning now?

Fun mellow 5.0 session on the JP 93 FSW and 5.0 NP Expression. Landed lots of vulcans, close on a spock, and a number of port forwards (getting less scary). All psyched to try grubbies, but lost stoke. Will save for tomorrow! Leave tomorrow night :( . Chris and Lindsay scored waves about 40 min from El Yaque on 8m yesterday. Watched the Fanatic guys doing a photo shoot off the pier on the 2008 kit. Unbelievable talent. I feel shame. Amazing what sailing in non-glacial water does for your sailing!
