    nice swell outside
    4.00 hours
Started on 5.0 Alpha with Maui Project 84. Sweet combo! Fun slashes on outside and finally got the courage to start throwing forwards on Port. Rotated all of them to waterstart with one painful high endo to backslap (hurts more with no wetsuit!!) Wind picked up, so grabbed a 4.5 Alpha and JP 69 (tiny!). Fun in the big wind, not so much in the lulls. Finished off on a JP FSW 78. Chris and Lindsay have arrived. Tomorrow looks good too!

Great 10m kiting. Left work at 1....just couldnt handle watching all that wind and sun from the webcam. First time this year its been that nice! No gloves and my hands were totally fine. I got the best of it.

Hung around waiting for black cloud to arrive, cold as hell all of a sudden &....gettin' windy ASA Watson left :D Non-believer :o Rigged big just in case, soon became apparent 5.8 in 4.5 doesn't work too efficiently, gusty w/ some holes tho & needed every square inch when it finally died almost an hour later. Rudi rippin' on a 10, donating his key. Johnny trying to tie a knot in his 6.5  Some nice waverides :P :P

Got in a few powered up runs on the 4.7 before the wind started to drop. Bigger sail/board didn't help. Sunny and warm tho. Should've gone there as soon as I saw the wind coming on the cam.

Nicely powered up to wayyyy overpowered sailing on a 5.0 NP Alpha and JP FSW 78 (love that board!). Getting to grips with bigger port jumps and had some fun table tops. Wind is lighter on the inside, so my vulcans have been lame. Wyatt Miller has arrived and is doing lame moves like (yawn) ponches, switch stance grubbies and flakas, as well as huge shakas. Not one person has come up to me on the beach raving about my hand drags. They´ll come around. Tried some wymaroos and came super close on a couple. Go ... (more)

First day on the water since chillin´ with indians on the mainland (amazing experience). Sailed 6.5, 5.7, 5.0 Pryde Expression and Zone on a JP FSW 93 and 85 and Carve 111. Port jumps. Had a few forwards and generally felt off. Tried some lame shuvits and couldn´t pull the trigger on port forwards. Gear felt wonky. Don´t like the Pryde stuff much. Watched Ricardo Campello and friends huck double forwards and pushies off of 3´ramps in waist deep water. INSANE. They were also landing full aerial upwind 36 ... (more)

Cool to be among the sea lions, huge animals! Quite warm out, spring's here :P Found wireless beside Sea Edge Motel in Parksville, fast, clear.

So great to be back at the lake. Mellow fun on the 4.7 and big board for the first hour and a half followed by some chilled-out 5.5 conditions. Got inspired to try grubbies again and started to get a feel for them (but crashed 'em all). Shuvits were a blast to try for the first time at Nitinat with small chop. Good practice. Water was warmer than expected! So quiet in the campsite!

The two biggest days of the year at LaVentana both for wind and waves, yesterday and today! A confession to make,I now like the "bow" kites. First the 12m Rise and now for very windy gusty conditions with big waves and lots of white water, the OR One 7m.

Love my Diablos and before that the Broncos but for gusty gnarly conditions the 7m One makes it all too easy. It is all about that instant depower in a gust or on a wave. What a couple of days it has been, run downwind with the waves for about a m ... (more)

Another great session on the OR 12m Rise.

Trying to find the low end limit again today. At times it was light for the 16m's I was out with. It really does have the power of a 14m and maybe even close to 16m at times but I hesitate to swear to that.

Nice to think that for my kiting I may no longer need that 16m though.

Needed to relaunch a few times while trying backrolls. It is almost too easy.

Still working on the finer points of trimming the power but getting there.

Now if I can just land those sp ... (more)

    Hi from LaVentana,

A great session on my OR 12m Rise yesterday. A light day but perfect for learning backrolls. The kite has the power of at least a 14m, quite a few 16m were out at the same time. it turns fast and relaunches almost automatically.

Jumps were very good and floaty for the conditions.

All this from a guy who love his Diablos!

A lighter wind day driven by thermal only and less El Norte. Began with the Go, then ~2hrs of 6.2/95L then 1hr of 5.6/95L then finished of the wind with the 6.2/Go. Very nice sailing with sunny skies. Tomorrow is a rest day/surfing on the Pacific side....

Five smiles for five hours of great wave sailing. Hung out with Gunter and the Mexican sailors Luis, German, Jesus, Ulysses, Ricco - a fine bunch of Cabrones in the positive sense of the word. These guys are always smiling, might be the tequila, or just the great day. Tired/sore and tomorrow promises more.

Got teased out into about 2-3 knots of wind, wobbled out and up, too little to try and catch the small waves breaking on the bar. Was going to come in and not even log it. The wind filled in again, got planing briefly in the tide slop outside the crabtraps. Sailed almost to James Is and back. Tried to time it right with the sandbar, but only got some small waves. Ah well, it cured my cold.
