Well, it would've been great if it wasn't so f***in cold! Props to Ozy and Paul and Bean for their rotational persistence despite the temperature. When I drove through Naniamo it was snowing hard, but only the occassional flurry at Columbia. The coldest I have ever windsurfed.

After a loooong day flying, I made it to the Baja. Lots of near body cavity searches at airports were rewarded with a short session at the end of a great day. Actual gear was a KA sails 5.6 and a F2 Air 95 L. Thanks to Gunter for the great gear, the wonderful campsite, and the opportunity to get in some 3/2 sailing (maybe a shorty tomorrow??) in the swells of the sea of Cortez... Tequila & sleep are in order.....

Cold Air Bubble day with too much South in the wind but waves were amazing before I got out at 11 after line tangles and kite launching misadvendtures. had some good time on the strapped surf board (rocks) until the rear pad came unglued and the front strap webbing pulled thru its screws. Then pissed around on the TT in the light stuff. Better tomorrow a.m.? Below 6 degrees a ir temp the South effect seems to frequently dominate

Met with RD to carpool up to CB. We decided that due to snow/cold/wind in town that we would stay local. Went to C-Lover but it didn't look that great. Headed to PW and stayed. The wind was straight onshore and up/down, there were no waves and it was a little cold. Had fun anyway and did a lot of back and forth sailing. Mw doing some good fwds. Tired now.

Arrived late at willows to see BigD ripping and rigged my 5.8 then the wind dropped so I rigged the 6.5 and the wind dropped again :( . Decided to give it a go anyway to get in some slogging time. Ended up planing 3 x hooking in 6x and finding my 104L board is quite a sinker in low winds. Still worth it.

Had a great learning session. Why does the wind always die once I hit the water? Luckily it picked up again after 15 mins and I was blasting back and forth across the bay. I wish I could jibe! Tried a few times and ended up in the drink. I'm a newb trying to learn!
Drove past Willows, waves looked to big for me so I hit Caddy Bay where the wind clocked around to more south and the waves didn't have time to build. Scared a few seals and a few crab pots, oh wait, they scared me.

After waiting around finally wanted to at least get wet in one of numerous squalls....so I did. No wave rides (only one I could've had shortened by row of paddling surfers) unless you count getting pounded into rocks @ sewers twice :!: trying to extricate myself from wicked current/no wind :evil: :x Point & point some more when planing, no go, wind shut off a few times so I don't think I was slogging, more like drifting :roll: Hot shower, beer, sun out, all good :wink:

Drove into the JR lot with high aspirations which were confirmed when I caught sight of TheLaw ripping down the line on a sweet wave. Holy, it was going to be epic :twisted: ... an epic wait. :cry: got a good tour of the Kuswindhostel. Gave up after the 8th sun/wind/hail/squall combo. Classic JR. Highlight was some very cool standup paddle surfing by RichardM. Consolation prize was a decent hour at Kook. solid wind. ramps for a couple of forwards, and no logs :)

Most of my Hate energy was used up driving like a drooling madman to JR from a course I'd left a "little" early from. Tosca was sliding back and forth in the front seat (despite attempting to insert his claws into the upholstery for traction) as the Xterra rocked and rolled it's way around hairpins at mach speed. Well what a day of waiting around. At least I got there early enough to sail powered up on the inside. Morewind witnessed the best ride of the day when he drove in. Kus had a lesson in frustration, he was the only [i:d465d9788c]lucky [/i:d465d9788c]one that got out. Today was the first for 2007 and a first for windsurfing and surfing in the same day....thanks for the loan of the mitts Kus!
