First sesh of the year and it felt like it. Rigged big and I still ended up at the spiral staircase! After some sail tuning I got back up wind. The conditions were great, the last 10 min the wind was gusting to 30 and the SFreak held. Now I know what you mean Doc about the SF in gusty conditions. Thanks Morley for letting me try the mitts now I know I like bare hands. Most fun I've had on the water in months. :D :D

After wasting 3 hrs. on a drive to j.r., arrived at Cook to find a few guys sailing on 4.7's. although the wind was really up and down. Sailed the 4.7 in one of the strongest blasts of the day and soon the wind trailed off and the rest of us that were left packed up. Then around 4 pm the stragglers from jr arrived just as the wind came back. I'm sure that alot of frustration got vented in the next hour. :lol:

:D Almost 3 months to the day since my last session so I was very happy to get on the water even if it wasn't CB at it's best. BWD and I arrived to find the wind had just died and the sun was out - not usually a good sign but after waiting about 45 min. it came back so we all rigged 5.0 to 5.5's. Not exactly epic but fun anyway. Ozy was doing front and back loops off the small waves. The wind picked up to 4.7 after a while but the SF felt comfortable so I stayed on it but went to my smaller board. Later on ... (more)

At times I wished I've been on my 3.7. Other than that it was great! Lots of good wave rides. Note to self - don't ride to close to the reef. Lost some time changing the fin ( thanks Mr KUS for saving my day!!! )
Doc pulled out longest wave ride I've ever seen @ Cook, cutting the lip five times on a single wave! BWD was hunting me all over the bay. Grant and MW were charging hard. I WANT MORE!!!

Super fun session! Arrived to see Kus, Jose, and Art shlepping gear (small gear!) up the stairs spent but with mucho stoke. Rigged up the 4.2 and played hard with BWD, RD and MW. Today was a bad day to be a fin or finbox. I got scrubbed on the reef,Dave got scrubbed also apres the shuvit into the dry reef. His fin died a quick death. RD sacrificed his fin to the reef goddess as well. Morewind was using driftwood to adjust his fin (and spine). The swells/waves were fantastic at times. I had two weak forwards ... (more)

:D that was good. Not the usual post-front grumpy kook, no squalls. Solid winter wind. Some great waves in the first hour, people disappearing. Saw winddoc do the longest down the line wave ride ever seen at kook :!: Watson laying hate at the waves. BWD shuvin, RD charging. There was stoke. Nice. Only got chucked once when a piece of wood stopped me dead in the tracks, fin meets back of box :roll: Falling tide, BWD and RD got close and personal with the outer reef :wink:

Sun and a rainbow to boot, as well as a romp with local pets for mugdog while rigging and unrigging. Did I mention I was the sole board on the water? Better than sittin' in front of the 'puter.

The fog had us all fooled at first, nobody noticed the swell building after the unusually low tide it was coming in hard. When the first breakers hit the beach :shock: wind followed soon after. It was solid 4.0, not a gust in sight :twisted: Frothing white, regular marching 12s sets, no driftwood, temps unusually warm for this time of year. Waves were getting bigger in minutes.
