Watched MF4 barely Kona-ing so looked for something new. Superclean & steady in Telegraph, nice even waves trying to set up, unfortunately just not enuff :? Got 2 planes & had to work for 'em :roll: countless tacks & heli's practice & slog sesh. New wrist/neck seals were great, first "dry" drysuit in 8 yrs :P Trying to ride miniwaves, nimble footwork drill, kinda fun believe it or not, probably only cuz it was a beauty day 8)

Gorgeous day to be on the water and I don't have a yacht. Baker glowing to the east, tacked into Cadboro to just below the yacht club, then flipped the dagger up and broad reached/tacked downwind to check out the billionaire's houses along the waterfront. Absolutely perfect 9m kiting, steady wind plus 9-10 degrees. Small surf inside was idyllic for slashing and the inside was smooth. Got to ride on the 6' surfboard strapless. Going back on my twin tip it felt like a ferrari. What an awesome session ... :D

Crazy squall hit us on the water(thank god)!
It was so strong, I couldn't depower enough.
No matter how far I pushed out, and edged,
I didn't stop until I slowly brought the kite
strait overhead with full depower.
Then all of a sudden it was a fight just to get back
to the beach.
Minutes later, it steadied back out.
Had fun today, used three different boards, learned a couple new things.

Scored a 'quick' session on the way home from Mt Washington. Nice to ski in the morning then sail in the afternoon. The body was super tired and I didn't do much out there but great fun and some good wave rides. Paul and Ozy going off and Doc landing some sweet backloops. Cold at first then not too bad. Got in trouble for leaving Cindy shivering in the van while I sailed - said I'd be back in an hour :oops: Now I'm grounded.

So much fun! Probably the most fun jumping day I've had. Started the session on the 5.5 with 2 good forwards and some backs. Had a few good wave rides. Wind picked up to 4.7 and some perfect back looping ramps appeared. Landed 3 backs super clean and sailed away from 4 or 5 more (some prettier than others). Stoked! Felt dialled on them finally. Nice!!! First 1/2 hour, the kites were doing downwinders and walking back up the beach, I was doing little swell rides, and tried daggerboard 1st time - went WAY up by cliffs against wind and tide in a couple of tacks. Tried some tacks, pretty rusty but stayed dry. Wind came up a notch and I planed pretty much from there on. Kites were starting to stay upwind. Fun playing in the bigger waves way offshore. One of my most fun IV sessions - it would have been frustrating on my other boards.

Another awesome session on the 5m kite, after an OP start on the 9m. Wind filled in about 2:00. Lots of chop today and small waves. Went upwind to the "Creek" and it is so much smoother and waves are cleaner.
Snapper was dialled on his 8m carving the smoother waves upwind. :D

Maiden voyage of the Kona. I'll post details in the 'Kona Odyssey' thread for anyone interested. But THAT was winter water play at its most enjoyable - sun, quite warm, lots of wind to plane, no worries about the wind dying etc, fun waves - I could only see the shoulders and head of Big D when we were in troughs one wave apart once (and we were BOTH still sailing :lol: ). Would have been happier on a 5.8 to start, but more down & out and wind dropped a little and then it was just right.

Started big w/ little wind, so much so I rigged 5.8 only to of course have it blast me :? 4.0-6.0, repeat :evil: ...Can't remember being in the water so much in recent months, cold after that :x Hot shower/ lunch intermission :D Then wind got less gusty, EVO time :twisted: but waves bit smaller :cry: Still fun playing in break, good jumping out, miss ports tho. Fun session if a bit gusty. Waves so-so. Kus looked great linking cutbacks and getting close on high back loop. Kus and I were racing on the way out, he couldn't catch me so I guess we were about the same speed :) 5m has oodles of power in the turns.

Took a bit to begin firing, but the CB machine came thru. Shared the water with Gwind, Paul & Matdog. Left the water at near dark, with Paul sailing home on a 4.5. The 5.5 SE wave 2007 was great until near the end (fantastic range). Caught a few nice wave rides as the sets started to form.
