Stopped by Cow Bay on the way home from work, hoping to catch some thermal wind... if any... Sure enough there was! At least for some light wind sailing. Spent around an hour out in the bay just crusing around, practicing non-planning gybes. Felt like it started to pick up in the end, but only had time for a quick session and a quick beer at the Cow Bay pub. Good times.

Beautiful sunset session with a small crew. Wind light at first and picked up near the end of the session. Realllyyy had to fight the 14+twintip to stay riding early on; I think it's time to learn to foil soon though, while I was fighting to stay upwind Clive and Justin were just crushing on theirs. Session ended well, milked every last second of daylight I could then beers after; good day!

Great seasons with Clive and Brett. Started out really light and was having some issues trying to clear the beach and get in deep enough depth to water start. Was rewarded with a fun session, beautiful sunset and tacts into the moonlight. The after session pints at the Beagle were a great way to end the night.

Great evening session with Justin, Brett and one other. Started with super light wind and a drag through the growth around the reef to get into open water but once out it was great. Foiling before the paragliders could get off the ground which was a first but lots of pumping the foil for the first 30 min. I think there was probably more wind over the water than near the beach which helped. Stayed on the water until 9, helped by an almost full moon. Nice apres at the Beagle which is a civilized way to cap a ... (more)

Found my light wind setup. Once on foil the 980 has the low end of a mega glider. At times was riding through pure glass on apparent wind and pump. Neat that you can feel the water change to glass. Best tack ladders I've ever had by far, 5.5mode has very low resistance compare to the strikes and the 980 can pump your way out of anything. Tapped into 1.5ft swell and boat wake. Finally got the casey/oskar double leg pump on this kit. My legs are burning out long before the foil drops. Will even grave ... (more)

As good as Monday was, Tuesday was bad. Just a thin band of wind along shore which was impossible due to the low tide. After 2 hours of struggling came back from Acadia and watched as it filled in to 20 knots with the high tide. Too tired to re-rig and called it.

Dusted off the gear and was finally able to get back on the water. Must be summer, lots of people on the beach. Sure was nice and warm but I did like experiencing the winter SE winds earlier this year. Late afternoon session. Missed the earlier retired crew. Fully powered on the 5.0 flyer.

    Just one more!

11:00, the old pine humming 20 kts, whitecaps on the outside, DavidM working the swell in the distance. Great start! I joined DM and SamJ North of Clark in a perfect combo of summer wind and swell. The 4m paired with the 1250cm worked well for my first half. I completed the last hour on the 5m.

Pipers on a northwesterly, a special place indeed!

Unexpected WNW wind, typical gust-busting right off the launch and sadly not quite enough juice to get up to Acadia. Spent the time bobbing, weaving and avoiding all the flotsam in the water.

Fun until it wasn't, made it back in, almost teased out again by a few sucker gusts (solid W). Didn't fancy a swim so quit while I was ahead. Still fun!

Stoked to leave the winter suit in the van. No hood no gloves almost summer like

Scored a few hours out at the ferry terminal with winds gusting to 24 knots. I'm glad it picked up as I didn't have my 5M wing and had to use the 3.5. Which was perfect for trying out the new WR 980 with the S380 stab and 653 fuse. It's a very different feel from my surf style wings but fast and glides nicely. It's going to take me a few sessions to get used to it. Wind was mostly around 18 to 20 knots and I could ride the 3.5/72L combo no problem. Unexpected relatively unforecasted session, peaceful cruise out there solo for the first half, wind surprisingly stable. Had a few peeps file in for the latter half of the session at which time the wind died off quickly.

Landed my first proper backroll aswell! Hadn't tried one since last season and was pretty brutal then, lots of kite slamming etc. However this time it just felt super natural, guess a few months of focusing on riding form, poping, and kite control goes a long way for those things.

Out just after 7 for an early solo session, joined later by a couple of kites and later still one wing. One ten minute lull but mostly able to eek out some sweet rides.

First wet suit session. It was light but glad I didn't rig the 6m.

Break through session for me. I've been struggling on my weak side jibes so decided to try to foot switch before the jibe and it made all the difference. Was able to finally tie multiple runs together. sunny warm day on the water with lots of foilers out. Lots of debris in the water making it bit of a mine field

Struggled with lack of power or too small a wing for most of my session. Managed to get flying with lots of pumping but not easy to get up wind. Sunny, warm day was a bonus though. Still hoping for a bit more wind.

Glorious sunny warm morning over at Discovery/Chatham Islands. Wind picked up a bit paddling back to Cattle Point, so I moved to Ross Bay. Rigged the 5.0 and it just wasn't enough. Ross Bay a gyre of swirling logs and junk, and a vortex where anyone's hopes of foiling downwind of Clover evaporated with futile furious pumping. Looked great up to windward near the point. Should have just rigged the 6 windfoil. Foiled for a few seconds. Should have foiled another time, felt enough, on falling found out m ... (more)

Arrived second to Bobson - no surprises there. We conferred and agreed it was time to go. The full RBFC contingent followed closely. Fair bit of weed and debris because PaulB is almost ready to come out and he loves RB weed. Summer temps, van tours and beer post session.

Long layoff. So many setups to try out including wing up, deflate, packdown, paddle. Got to get that faux drive running to add to the wing deflate to guaranty kookiest guy on the beach. Should have attempted that first since the swell is better early thermal and my arms weren't gassed from speed runs on the 5.5mode/w800.

China creek is now only 6 mins on the new smooth logging road in my regular car. About 15-20 minutes past Canal Beach. Windy, sunny, warm, big low tide beach, no debris in water, no ... (more)

What a nice day! Warm and windy. Great crowd. Arrived early to about 12 knots, then it picked up a bit. Nicely powered early on, then the wind seemed to get a bit fluky down wind. Nice to have the big wing when the wind died down a bit. Great fun even if there was a bunch of junk to sail around.
