Good day with good crew, sunny, warm and clean wind.
2 hours on the twin tip then decided to give my surf board a try for the my first proper session on the thing. Pretty easy to get going on. Tried a tack but rode far down wind, lines lost tension, kite fell out of the sky right near the beach. Wind too light to relaunch - marking the end to my session.
Looking forward to more summer days out on the point!

I arrived a little bit later than the OG group. Warm sunshine and good winds. Bobson and Mtnarg were out first with mtnarg deploying his 8m beast. I followed Paul's, Greg's, and Gautam's lead and pulled out my own 6m. It was choppy in the bay and swelly out past the point. It was nearly immediate lifts with fun roller coaster swell rides out past the point. Lots of flotsam to deke around at the tide line. Got a few nice laps but the winds reduced after about an hour. Too little wind for my low skill level ... (more)

The 9m was in the sweet spot today. Launched off the Ross Bay side, thanks to Tyler for the launch, and did a 1 tack ride up to Cook St. Played mainly around the spiral staircase for the session and the sun and warm wind was awesome. Smiles and high-fives all round!

Was originally going to check out China creek but decided to do SP instead. Rvanderbyl was there and we both rigged big, but not enough it would seem. Looked like it was going to be solid in the beginning... it just didn't hold. Daveo got some big air though at the start. Still got plenty of time on the water doing some light wind sailing, practicing tacks and gybes n such.. Tyler showed up so we at least had the kiteboarders outnumbered lol. Pretty stoked to see the weather turn sunny, just gimmie more win ... (more)

Good fun in the warm sun with some swell near Clover early on. The wind felt really weak and never seemed much more than 15. Lots of sticks, logs and kelpy bits in the water. Barefoot finally and it felt so good.

Best Session of the Year!! Warm weather and my fav wind speed. If it was a bit flatter it would have been perfect although I do like some waves to enhance my wave riding ability. Arrived at 1pm to 10kts and a lot of cars parked on Goat Hill. >>dislike button<<. I think I was 6 or 7th up the hill and first wind lover to arrive. Waited for 30 mins for it to pick up a bit. Arrived with the fam and did a quick walk down the Ross Bay boardwalk and back so Jack could ride his bike. Lots of wings and two wind foilers out ripping. Family didnt feel like hanging out in the wind, so I was given the green light to join the pack. Good times, wind up and down and felt like the whole bay was one giant tide line but still fun to be in the sun. Wind died off earlier than expected - was hoping for a sunset session. Quick apres with some RBFC members was much appreciated. [/img]

First to arrive with CB arriving shortly after. What a perfectly lovely day for a Tiki session. I launched Clive and then self-launched and started off the reef rocks on the windward side. Had a good long session on the Tiki which let my get more settled with it. It is quite different than a surfboard. It is loose and slide-y. It goes upwind well for me when I am heel-side but toeside is a little trickier. Foot changes are easier than the surfboard but gybing is a harder, it is like steering a ocean ... (more)

Thrilled the wind pitched up a bit earlier than forecasted. In the water at 2 with plenty of wind for an 8m and foil. Starting to get a bit weedy off of the reef which just means a body drag out. All good once our away from the rocks. Did a couple of synchro turns with Tweezer and watched some sea lions frolick in the waves. Pretty ideal afternoon I'd say.

Not much of a session but damn I know why I don't sail all winter. For one thing it's the warm sunshine that is missing in the winter months and I just appreciate it so much more from going without all winter. It does feel good to get back on the water. Now I am ready for a bit more wind. Great to see Kitesurferdale at the beach for a surprise visit! Thanks to Slickmick for all the corona for the board payment. Great to see new stoke on the water!!!

Light wind test. I never thought I'd be checking the forecast for a 12 knot day but here we are. I bought the 1350 for light wind days on the Okanagan lake and was super eager to test it out. I saw the ferry terminal was blowing 8g12, and was sceptical, but it was sunny and warm so headed out anyways. After my first few attempts I didn't think I could make it work with the 5M wing, it just didn't seem to hold any power in those light winds. Then I started to figure things out and with a nice steady rhythm o ... (more)

Unexpectedly fine Friday foil session where I had RB all to myself. I was finally the best winger on the water. Another bucket list item checked off! Not awesome winds, but enough to foil on Cab6m. NNE coming out of the corner and pushing me out to clover. Gusty, with plenty of holes - reminiscent of Elk Lk with milder winds. Unusual to be going across the bay and not in and out. Wind reduced as my gopro battery was dying and there was much more pumping required to get up near the end.

Summertime weather!!! Started off with steady wind, flat water, and warm weather. I thought I would be coming back for the smaller front wing. Then the wind dropped. Slogged for about 15 min. Quick trip around QD Buoy to check currents and why it looked Windier there on a Flood Tide Southwester than in the back eddy area shore side. No clear conclusion. Current was 1 to 2 knots .
Gotta get rid of the 40 year old wobbly booms for that rig. Fix has been in the works for over a year. But sailing is more fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arrived a little late for the "peak power hour", but managed some flying runs only to be sucked out west of Clover by BWD upon which it got very light and i came off foil on the gybe. Floated back to RB side of things, some struggles and intense pumping to finally get flying again. Had a few more flying reaches, decided it was getting really iffy and beelined it for the beach, made it all the way flying, looked to see that everyone was stuck outside bobbing around as the wind had completely tanked ... Got to the spot a little later than I had planned and missed the lunch time sesh I was hoping for. Decided to pump up the 14 anyway and give it a go. Ended up getting an hour on the water. These lighter days have been great for dealing in my jumping, have felt like I have hit a wall there after learning a few months ago but feel like I'm getting traction again(need to work on my edging/pop timing). End of the sesh wind shifted aggressively north and dropped off over a 2-3 minute period. I tried to make it b ... (more)

Interesting session. It started looking like a typical early summer session, with mellow WSW wind and fairly quiet seas. I started on the Duke and had about 20 minutes of good pull in the kite but then it lulled. I came in and grabbed the Tiki and then had another 20-ish minutes of good times on the big board but it lulled again. I came in and thought I was done for the day. I hung around and talked to the small quorum that had assembled and then the wind came back but more westerly. Went out again an ... (more)

Arrived at 1:45pm. Sunny, 15-18kts, and the flattest I have ever seen RB. Rigged the 5m and worked on the basics. Wind was up and down tho, the Takuma 1210 is so versatile, Im surprised not more people using them. Wind dropped to 12-15kts at best but the swell picked up a little, so it became a game of dont fall in or off foil. All in all a great afternoon in the Bay. Might have got a sun burn... Hopefully URL isnt still waiting for his wife to bring him down a spare key to his truck!!

Fantastic day for me at RB, despite the shortness of the session. Not sure why my GPS stopped in the middle of the session. Moderate swell, consistent +15kt, sunshine, warmth, and an empty playground. Lots of long rides out past the point. A couple of jibes that worked. I even surfed a few swells. Everything I tried just seemed to work. That was how great the conditions were. Sadly, it only lasted about an hour. Great fun with MtnarG, Lance, Greg, and Paul! Bobson would have loved the flat fun! Looking for ... (more)

Great day at Ross Bay. Only about 10 knots when I arrived, but it picked up pretty quickly. Went with the smaller foil but stuck with the 8m as it was already pumped up. A bit overpowered most of the session which really helped with the gybes. Definitely one of my best days Wing Foiling. :-)
