There appeared to be 9 or 10 knots when I started getting ready. By the time I was on the water, it had pretty much died. Turned into a major Schlogfest. There was a fellow with an inflatable Catamaran having fun. He let me take it for a spin. Bobson showed up and we had a nice chat. I watched him schlog for a bit and decided it wasn't going to happen for me. Made it home in time for dinner, so that was good. Hopefully tomorrow will reward us with some wind.

Nice afternoon for a schlog. Warm with light wind to keep me cool while pumping. HA! Went out being hopeful it would pick up, it didn't, it actually died down to basically nothing. Thought I'd go out and try it for an hour, didn't happen decided to come in, took almost 40 mins as the wind completely died. Nice to say Hi to TunaCan and his son also enjoying the sunshine and warmth. Wanted to 'get some' tonight as I can't make it tomorrow when there is more wind predicted. Rats!

Happy to get the timing right. seemed to be a pocket downwind of launch but windy off Finlayson Pt. able to stay within that area but short tacked to stay away from the flood current... it was ripping just outside the bay.. crazy hard to stay upwind with a 2-3knot current going against ya! fun times when the sun went down it filled in even better... first proper thermal it seems!!!

Followed MtnarG's and Idefix's lead and went with my 6mX3. Good choice as the swells needed a bit of power to work them and get through them. The swell was more turbulent than usual, lucky that they were not too big. Lots of wind during most of the session to let me try and follow Bobson out into the shipping lanes. I was OH (Over Heated) in my drysuit and loving it in the warmer conditions. Winds reduced after about an hour so I worked my way back in. Waited a bit and then re-joined the fray, but there was ... Arrived to light wind. Rigged the big stuff then the wind picked up. Did two reaches and headed for the beach. To lazy to pump a smaller wing, so went for the smaller foil. Had a great couple of hours then the wind started to get light. Had a beer with the boys and noticed some new arrivals heading out. Put the big foil back on and had another great hour on the water.

14:00, late SW arrival, some whitecaps at the point, light in the bay. Rigged biggest and hoped for the best on the outside. Little spotty at first but it picked up nicely to just OPd for 6.2 m. Didnt realize there was some wind till about 6:30. Couple white caps up at clover lured me out, on the 5m. Went leashless on the board for some extra excitement. Felt just as risky as surfing which i liked. Probably keep doing it sub 20kt days... couple tacks back and forth up at the CP for a bit and then wind started to lighten even further so made my way in. Nice solo session.

Morning patrol. Another day of weird conditions. Multiple swell fronts coming in from different directions with a tidal current? Probably should stop blaming conditions...lol. Still recovering from three weeks down with injury but coming back fast. Took the 6m for good reason. Wind line out by clover point was okay but patchy closer to the beach. At the same time I had one of my best surf and jibe moments so not totally sucking wind.

Missed the bigger winds earlier in the morning, but caught some of the 6m-sized winds with Bobson, Lance, and MtnarG. Got tripped up by Bobson distraction, rogue kelp, and predictable ineptitude. Winds reduced after about an hour and I had to call it a day. Had fun, and that's all that counts.

Back on the water after another bout of bad coughing and cold-type symptoms. Mostly sick since mid January :( Anwway, arrived after breakfast which was too late to participate in the first round. Couldn't find a mast step which stopped me launching then, found it later when I lifted a wing. Missed the early session. Arrived at 9am just as the wind died. Rigged the light wind gear. Had a good 1.5 hours of trying to figure out the big front wing before the wind got really light. Hung around the beach as just about everyone was packing up. Eventually the wind came back so Lance, Morgan, & I went out for another 1/2 hour of over powered foiling. Interesting session with the wind being up and down and a few holes, found out my really low-end on my 9m at 10kts with a foil, couldn't really try anything new or experiment as I just mainly trying to remain on foil through the lulls, the 633 front wing made it easier. Overall nice chilled session.

Needed a good session so set the alarm for 5:30. 6:30 the wind wasn't quite enough. By 7 it was go time. Got a sold session with lots of big crashes. Took the board in the back of the head after a high speed crash (helmets are good). Gibes are getting much better on my strong side. Need to sort my weak side out. Lots of happy foilers around.

Unpredictable morning spent trying to figure out which combo of kite and board would work best. The wind was up and down anywhere from about 10 to 20 kts but mostly down which is why I ended up on a foil and 8m kite. This spring has definitely been one of costume changes at (ir)regular intervals as I chase whatever the wind seems to be doing. Really looking forward to the warming weather later this week.

Woke up at 6:45pm to a msg there was wind. Ha! Arrived at 8am, having to skip my Tweezer-cakes to get there before it died. 5 Wings out and 2 more rigging on the beach. Got in a solid hour of 15-18kts then it got lighter and had to pump out of turns. Last 30 mins was pump to get it up then hit a big lull and schlog. Good turnout with 10+ Wings and 1 other Wind Foiler with MF4 threatening to go out but smartly waiting for more wind. I had lunch plans so left when it got <10kts. Apparently it came back aft ... Woke to wind in the trees so hurried down to Pat Bay, even before coffee. When I got going and wondered how fast I was going I realized I forgot my watch. Oh well.

Really rare wind angle in Pat Bay. I ended up being early with variable wind for the first half. Went out to Yarrow Pt almost. Filled in nicely NW even right in close in the Bay. The DD sure feels fast. Very efficient flying and gliding through soft spots and then sheets in nice downwind with lots of apparent wind. Accidentally touched do ... (more)

Had to go to Errington to pick up a garage door so took my gear to check out CB or SP. Wow ,so fun some of the best rides ever. Not huge but super smooth and even foiling waves. Not sure if I'm getting better or the waves there just made it easier. Wind was nice and steady although it picked up a bit after I first went out and was overpowered on 5M so came in and got 4M and perfect the rest of the session. Met some of the locals Axleporker out winging with 5M until wind got too strong and he started windsu ... (more)

Picked up the 115L from Ray's house as soon as I arrived in parksville. So stoked to test it out! Had a pretty fun time on the water at low tide. Took the 115L out.. feels like its going to be a good stepping stone towards the 99L. Still practicing those water starts.. gotta get those on lock down. SP feels like the perfect place so far to practice those. Will have them down in no time I'm hoping lol. Regardless of how much I was in the water, I still had a ton of fun. Thanks again Ray!

Wow that was way more fun than expected :) 5.3/110 quad. Tide was pretty much out, hike@end. By that time little smoothies formed allowing some mellow bob weave fun, made a monkey gybe on a wave face. Not much jumping slashing power but planing nonetheless with the odd effort needed. Great probably last Spring sesh here. Suds debrief & Udder Truck flat repair added to the bro time.
