Tropical vibe
Noticed a good breeze at Turkey Pt, made my way to RB. Caught the afternoon thermal with friendly locals already on it. Mild swell at the point and reasonably consistent. Nicely powered on 5m/1000cm. Good vibe : ))

First time out in about a month. Felt so good to be on the water and I love how easy a dw board makes my foiling. Lots of kelp which seamed to get worse as the session went on. Almost completely blocking the west end of the bay. Made me word on more turns and shorter runs.

Got the best of light, lumpy conditions. 6m was OPd at times, but mostly just right for my developing skills. The swells seemed more disjointed than usual, but that could just be my mediocre skills talking. Still lots of fun and there was wind all the way into the bay. Got caught in a couple of kelp takedowns. But less kelpy than usual. Cruisy day, as WindJunky stated. Got in a second short session. Post-foil beers w Idefix was very, very nice. No GPS today, it went squirrely and turned itself off after on ... (more)

Tough day at the office. Rigged what I thought would be a bit too much sail but by the time I got out it was barely enough. Not enough wind to water start so lots of challenging uphauling. Kept picking up weeds on every reach which bogged me down and pissed me off. Foil gladiator action later on when I was packing up.

Big fogbank but normal wind build, made a few runs on my aching body with 5.0/94 when it finally peaked but didn't last long. Back to 110l which was a bit boring to yesterday. As it dropped thought 5.9/110 would work but it was over. Long happyhour and laughs! Sunscreen party!

Nice warm cruisy session with a few dips in the wind and a little to much junk in the water. Started on smaller foil quickly went back for bigger foil then wind came up so back to the smaller foil half hour later wind died lots of schlogging and waiting for a puff or wave to take off on.

Less wind than Wednesday but still overpowering on a 6.0. Finally started to enjoy slashing and turns in the waves. Yeah
Sunset sail was gusty but the big find was a very nice 6lb Sockey that the Eagle fishing near by did not see. I still can't belirve that. Nice to meet slake who's having fun winging on his smaller size wings.

It was such a pleasant evening, everyone happy, smiling, the odd curse at the kelp... and then out of the Sun's blindspot attacked from on high! Shaggy and I on parallel outbound reaches with me being downwind directly below him, a quick cutback turn by Shaggy and that was it, we clashed foil masts! Minor damage to his carbon baby's leading edge, my brutishly tough alu mast came out unblemished. Looked promising for a light wind session so I pumped the 14.5m Flite and reached for my "non-lethal foil alternative" (tm) (aka Tiki). I self launched and it felt good but it did feel like maybe too much kite. Nontheless, I grabbed the Tiki and went off the windward side and for sure I probably could have been on a 12m but the Flite is well behaved and so with 3/4 depower I headed out. I had a nice 25 minutes of cruising on the Tiki and was super well supported on the big kite for tack turns, ... (more)

Logging this only because I got a short DW foil or two in during flatware paddle up practice. Wind picked up after a couple of paddle ups so took advantage of the small waves off clover and popped up for a couple short DW runs. The 1675 is not very glidey but man does it launch early! Some pieces of the DW puzzle are finally starting to come. Would love to get some real ones in (2km+). Left for a BBQ just as the wind started looking decent for winging. BBQ was very goooooood.

Fun light wind session on the 3.5. Got too light so switched to 5.0. Couple runs then made a fast jibe on a wave without checking my blind spot and hit a Robin. Sorry ULR. My bad. So relieved there were no injuries and no damage to ULR's kit. Only damage was a chunk out of the leading edge of my carbon mast from crossing swords. Luckily ULR is cheap and was only riding an aluminum mast.

The actual temperature gradient for today was 14C. The conditions were not as strong as expected given this steep temp gradient.
Should have used my 13m kite' Never the less, had some good practice working my kite in ever weaker conditions. Made it home, but just in time.

On the water at 2pm with 6-10kts. It took 30 mins to fill in to 10+ in the gusts so easier to stay on the foil. Super warm, could have worn shorts and a rashy but wore the 3/2 no sleeve. A bit of swell coming in around the corner later but pretty darn flat. Saw 1 Winger close to Willows, tried to get close but no wind in close so stayed out further. Possibly RedVanPaul..?? Lots and Lots of people on Willows and lots of boats out and about. Probably should have put on the 1100cm2 front foil but thought it wo ... (more)

Big surfboard (Knee Swacker, 5' 10") and 17m flight. Low tide and weeds made it a challenge. My first 1/2hr was ok, but struggled to stay up wind. Lost my board for a while after the kite crashed, wondered if I would see it again. All good after finding it floating upside down 10 mins later.
Less wind than hoped for. Earlier would have been better.

Got a chill shorty-suit session with Greg, Idefix, Poper, Paul and the elites. Occasionally OP'd on my big 6.2m Mantis, but rarely off foil. Got a couple of kelp takedowns, but not bad. Tried to follow the elites over to the Clover side but I chickened out and stayed on the bay side. Fun vibe in the sets and ashore. Enjoyed beers and dissertations by BWD on the greatness of DW boards. Came back in to change batteries just before the winds decreased and we were relegated to watching OmenGreg and Tuna play on ... Strong winds (2m) noon to 2:30 or so then a thin cloud layer drifted in and slowed things down. When the blue came back the nuke returned. Tried 4m and naw- 2m was the call! Fun swells to ride just out front.

Back to China Creek around 4 pm and it was very windy until sunset, and beyond. Overpowered the whole time, even on a 3 m. Would be nice to try a 2.2, 2.6 m in such conditions. Wave direction and size were different across and up/down the inlet from launching beach. I did not get very far upwind in the inlet. Going to try to rig up my harness line on the XPS. Like to use the built in webbing loops, but my spectra line works handle-to-handle.

Rig and wait.
Arrived early for the promised winds and a prized parking spot. Scored a nice evening session in mild swell with just enough loose kelp to keep my attention. I followed BWD to Cook Street but didn't linger there too long with the wind dropping and sailed back to the safety of the bay.
More tomorrow : ))
