Arrived to light wind and watched CB pump a big kite for his foil. I pumped my 14.5 Flite and expected to go out on the Tiki but as I got my wetsuit on, and all of my other accoutrements, the wind came up. I launched the big kite anyway just to see how it felt and it felt big, so I put it right back down (thanks Wade for the fast launch and land). I then pumped the 12m instead and that, and the Duke, was the secret sauce. I went off the windward side reef and with high tide and a very southerly wind I e ... (more)

Classic non gale, but still fun. Fairly flat at first so I headed upwind to play in some new kelp patches. The wind seemed to lighten up a bit but the swell got better on the outside and off the point. Loving the 880 with the light wind lift offs and crazy low stall speed.

Felt like too much sail and too wide a board for the amount of chop.
Lasted an hour and a bit then my harness line broke. Have to remember how to rig for too much wind and how to survive seriously choppy seas.
Hopefully I will get better at it tomorrow.

On a short leash so crammed in a session between work and kid pick up. Super light when I arrived so made the decision to foil with a 10m. 10min after getting out through the kelp forest it built to about 20kts. I came in, dropped off the foil and grabbed a twin tip and spent another 15min enjoying the warm wind and the wave faces. In and out in about an hour and home in time for dinner.

Things on the RB webcam looked a bit bleak but the forecast was good so I decided to head down. Arrived to BWD, Windjunky, Danno and Ang praying to the wind gods -- they clearly knew what they were doing because minutes later the wind filled in. I rigged my 5.5m and was off. Super fun session with relatively flat conditions for RB, perfect for foot switch and gybe practice. Lots of fun passes -- the stoke was high!

Great swell with the SW wind. Light at first but then it picked up so tried out the Omen Flux 48L. After each kelp takedown and falls struggled to get up. 48L is too small for me. Switched back to the Dragonfly and rigged down to 3.5 for some killer swell rides. Should have been on my smaller glider but didn't want to waste time and waves to come in again.

Good session. Plenty of power with my 5.5m and I kept thinking I should probably rig my 4m. The waves seemed to get quite a bit bigger by 630pm. More gybe practice and I tried to spend more time reaching down towards Hollywood Cres rather than staying upwind near Clover Pt. Felt a bit rusty since I haven't been getting out as much in July!

Early shift was marginal. I had to get out halfway to Trial Is to get on foil. Luckily, the winds increased. Great to share the swells with Greg in the early shift. Took a break after about an hour to switch gopro batteries and the winds died leaving the foilers with a long swim back. I was ready to call it a day but the winds returned and I went back out for another well powered hour with my smaller 6m with Paul and others. My twisty Drunken Monkey foiling method paid off in the kelp slalom runs. Summer fo ... (more)

Weirdo Wind: Extreme Lift and Loft, but quite holey and gusty near shore, needed to keep kite moving. Usually doesnt get both at the same time. Fun by time. Hopefully it will be better Wednesday, was still fun due to extreme lift and near kite soaring moments. Water smelled like poo :(

Late start, fresh to a strong breeze' great session. I could get use to this 9m Rebel. Too bad we do not have a 2024 NEO SLS in the school quiver, would love to make a comparison.
Cruising upwind, then surfing down wind on the waves.

Quick session - timed it well with a little blip in the wind before the later afternoon blow. Foiled right off the beach and stayed dry the whole time. Some girls tanning in bikinis didnt seem impressed though.

You just can't tell when you are going to score. Awesome session although that is the record for being taken to zero by kelp. So much kelp. It was like running a border out by the "band." Also a bunch of stealth weed floating under the water line closer in the bay. Regardless, I was pretty much expecting to be underwhelmed by conditions and the opposite happened. Solid and consistent wind, slightly more offshore, with great swell. One of my best sessions this summer.

Windy day to dedicate the Feather beach art installation! Arrived early and already windy for launch at 1230 with 4m and smallest foil, fuse and stab. Circumnavigate Spit island after the first reach into the river! Rig down to 3m at 130 and still plenty of power to go around the Spit. It feels like a new level!

Best sailing was from 5:30Am -10am but the UW model was accurate & I Sailed 11kt from 11 -12 noon on a 7.5m happily slogging north. Could not lie the Hammond Bay S. entry so I turned & headed back. Dawn patrol is still my plan.
I have no idea where todays east swell came from . But My theory on Sunday's extended 15 knots untill 1:30pm was an enhanced thermal affect caused by the Harmac Hog furl fire.
