Best session ever at Pat Bay - well, actually, the ONLY good session I've ever had at Pat Bay. Felt lack of stoke and didn't want to face Cook. Started off lame, it dropped while I rigged, I slogged a few hoping Russian Dude wasn't watching  . Came in to pack up thinking typical PB, it was done for the day, and thought 'those look better gusts than any I had", so walked down to the beach again and wind gradually built and veered SW to NW until I was fully powered, almost over. Made mostly dry gybes but nowhere near planing out of any  It was great after the sun set over the mountain and I came in at 4; if I'd had some company would have sailed till dark, cleanest steadiest wind I've seen there. Enough wind that I almost couldn't get the board on the roofrack single-handed without it blowing off. Wind was nothing like the airport registered! Only down side was the wood in the water, including some bobber chopping blocks, mostly sunk and would occasionally show themselves. They had named themselves Lord of the Rings-type sword names like "tailbiter" and "tuttle tearer"; luckily I only hit little stuff.
Oh, and some stupid dogwalkers found my board on the beach at the end of a little spit, lined up into the wind waiting for me to finish rigging the sail, and without looking round to see if it was owned, started to drag it off by the back footstrap, bumping the nose over the rocks    . I yelled at them and they stopped. Knocked the gelcoat off and exposed fibres on one spot on the rail.
Oh, and really itchy now, even after a shower. I guess all the runoff from the torrential rain has washed nasties into the bay.
