Timed that wrong! Hoped for a nice lunch just-nicely-powered 5.0 session before the wind came up too much, but ended up getting hit by the gusts that were nearly 50 at Ogden around 1:30 - 2PM. First run was UP in the lulls, OP but not bad in the gusts - probably just over 30. Came in to rest and went out again and quickly realized the conditions had ramped way up. Rig was ripped out of my hands as I bore off to jibe, then had a feather-it-in near slog back to the beach. Had to body drag through the kelp as the wind was wicked near shore. Would have been lovely on a 3.5 or 4.0.
Kiter SuperDave was OWNING it out there - huge long sesh, some nice surf moves on the big dumpers on the outer reefs, using a unidirectional board.
Helped Joel carry gear up after his short sesh on a 4.2. Wind dropped a lot shortly after.
