Arrived to 10-14kts, looked good upwind towards Kelp Reefs. On the water at 1:45pm and ripped for a solid hour caught a bit of kelp a few times and could t shake it loose so had to stop, go in reverse and then take off again. Went over past end of James Island as I was thinking of heading around it but decided against that idea as I was by myself. On way back hit a small piece of wood, immediate stop, over the handlebars still hooked in, rope that holds boom tight on mast broke, I jury rigged it by basically tying the boom on as ends of rope were frayed so couldn't get back into the holes needed. Amazing I was able to foil back in with boom soooo loose. Made it back and tried a different rdm grip for the boom connection, it came off and went to the bottom. As I was out only 100ft so just swam it back and called it a day as didn't have a boom to use. Too back as wind looked like it was foilable for at least another 90 mins. Oh well, no damage and made it back to the beach. Could have been much worse. Will check roles next time before heading out. Amazing such a small piece of wood can be like hitting a wall. It was maybe a foot long and 2-3' in diameter. Got some good speed runs prior to boom issues even with the non-flat water.
