Ate my Twizzle-cakes and watched The Masters golf watching IV on the BWD Cam, strangely enough saw the BWD van on the Cam but with the low tide, sandbar and usual large waves at IV, I decided to wait and hope the wind filled in at Willows. Well, finally at 1130am it started filling in so jumped into the man-van and headed lickity-split to Willows. I arrived just as H-Rock was blowing up his Wing but no one else around. We chatted for awhile and decided it was 6.0m able so both rigged our 6's. Just as I was heading to the water, Mtnarg arrived. I headed out and was able to foil immediately. It was light to begin with, maybe 10-14kts but after 30 mins it kicked up to 12-15kts making it perfect for my 6.0m Flyer FR. Then a hoard? of Wings showed up and at the peak maybe 10 Wings and Me. After the first hour I had travelled 28kms and as it was picking up a bit I decided to go for another hour before heading home and searching for chocolate eggs. 2nd hour was awesome, with some larger swell of CP and flatter water near Mary Tod Island. A sailboat tied up to one of the buoys near Mary Tod Island so I decided that would be a good gybe mark so rounded them multiple times as they were eating lunch on the after deck. As I was heading towards CP, saw a huge sailboat heading out of Cadboro Bay so headed over to do a drive by. It must have been 80-100 ft long and looked pretty darn fancy!! Headed back though the confusted chop and large swells off CP and was happy to be back as wind and waves were picking up out there. After 2 hours and 60+kms decided it was time to call it a day and head home for an Ice Cold Corona and some chocolate. DELICIOUS!! It was nice to see so many new faces out Winging. Had a chat with South African John at the end who was trying to decide if it was windy enough for him. All other Wings were packing up as I was leaving and the wind was picking up to 20+kts. Great day!!
