Out for the second session of the day and didn't disappoint. well powered on the 9M for most of it despite some ups and downs.
2 pretty major gear malfunctions in one session though;
First was my twin tip strap ripping off my board when landing a jump . At first I thought just a loose screw, turns out I ripped the thread right out of the board. Quickly drove home to scavenge another screw to mount in one of the other mounting holes then back on the water.
Second was one of my centre lines Larks Head knots slipping off while I was on the rocks getting in the water on the cook st side. Scarry situation that started my kite looping right away. Was able to maintain some level of control though, confirm the line that slipped off was NOT my depower line before then ejecting(there were people on the beach and I did not want to eject the kite without a depower line, having it run them over). Backup plan if it was the depower line that snapped was to grab the steering line that was causing the kite to loop and pull it manually enough to depower the kite and flag out on the steering line. Happy I was able to stay fully calm in the situation and go through that decision making process in what was under 2 seconds , wouldn't have done anything different in retrospect (aside from maybe double checking my knots when rigging haha). Thanks to Clive for coming down and checking if I was okay + grabbing my kite for me. Had a super great mega fun time untangling my lines from all the seaweed for an hour afterwards.
Despite the mishaps, great sesh, great crew, great day. :)
