Arrived to light wind and watched CB pump a big kite for his foil. I pumped my 14.5 Flite and expected to go out on the Tiki but as I got my wetsuit on, and all of my other accoutrements, the wind came up. I launched the big kite anyway just to see how it felt and it felt big, so I put it right back down (thanks Wade for the fast launch and land). I then pumped the 12m instead and that, and the Duke, was the secret sauce. I went off the windward side reef and with high tide and a very southerly wind I easily skimmed out past the kelp. The sea was flooded and confused and kind of hard to ride initially but I got used to it. (I guess I got soft riding the lake for four days.). The wind was very cool, steady and lofty. I was able to make easy reaches to Finlayson Point and I made many tack turns thanks to the lofty wind. There was a sail boat anchored about 200m off the spiral staircase and that was weird. I made a point of staying far away from it and not doing anything upwind of it that I might then regret. Otherwise, I had a fantastic time on the water and on shore talking to all of my fellow kiters. Summer kiting is the best!
