BWD Helmet Cam Videos

Post by bwd »

I finally got around to putting together a short video from the new GoPro digital video camera. It's from the warm SE Columbia Beach day on Saturday June 9 2007. I still have some Gordon's and Cook footage to go through. So far I'm quite impressed with the little camera. As long as you keep it fairly steady and wipe it once in a while it works well. I'm hoping to do a short review of the camera for the wiki soon (where I bought it etc).

Here is the downloadable version (a bit higher quality). Download it to your computer first (right click, Save As) and then play it for best results: CB_June_9_2007.wmv (23.2 MB)

Thanks to Winddoctor for telling me about the camera 8)

That's pretty neat Dave!
More.. more.
That's a tender version of Nirvana.
Who does that?

Got any loopin action, or loopin bails?
Wouldn't mind seeing the recovery either..
But maybe that's just me.

Oh.. nice editing job. I know it takes a while to sift through.
Choose, and put in order, then effects all that footage.
I'm ready for my close up.. B.W.

That's awesome Dave! Great video, good tunes. I missed that day. but now I have a sense of how it was!

Technical comment: I see what you mean about the camera shake. Not really a big problem though. I think it may seem shakier than other vids because most helmet-mounted POV video is shot with a wider angle lens, minimizing the apparent shake. That said, your camera works really well for the shots of others while you sitting on your board, where a wider angle lens would make the subjects seem too far away.

Looking forward to more videos! I'm stoked now to try more video too!

Tender..haha, yeah that would be The Polyphonic Spree...interesting group.

Actually there's a few of my lame looping attempts in there. They just don't look like loops. I'll have to get Winddoc to wear the cam next.

BWD....I thought we had decided that when you are using this camera it was going to be the new streaming webcam; complete with apparent wind vector, GPS info, and live sound...

Oh.. Sorry. I didn't know what I was lookin at I guess.
"Behind the scenes" ha, maybe you could do a really spead up version
of rigging up, taking it to the water. Sailing(slowed down), then the beach banter.

Thanks for the comments! Here's another one from Gordon's and Cook Street on June 1-5. Some more of my bad looping attempts (the ones with the large splashes at the end ).
