4 vs 5 batten sails

Yeah I just mean I probably wouldn't have noticed the difference between my fires and the quad had I not ridden them back to back in side off conditions. In bump and jump I think it's a lot harder to discern things other then straight line speed and overall feel. Slogging out a 4.3 in 20 knots then putting it on a glassy logo wave that generates its own wind to me was the telling test.
Don't forget to bring a towel!

less battens-lighter sailors
And to make it more complicated, forget wavesailing, are these the perfect sails for lighter sailors in bump and jump conditions? At a mere 125 lbs. I feel all my gear is beefier than I really need and lighter is a blessing. They look pretty interesting for 5.8 and under for me, and maybe even the new 3 battens for 5.0 and down. Could be pretty nice.

Yeah will probably try one size of KS3 just for fun, but I am super stoked on QU4D's & plan to replace them with same this coming season.nanmoo wrote:I bore witness to the KS3 in Baja and it has more grunt and shape than the FL or QU4D, looks funny, and is a bit heavier in the construction since they were able to save weight by losing a batten. Loving the Firelight myself. Stupidly light, still very strong, stable for me at 200-205 lbs. Only had a quick OP'd run on Nanmoo's 5.2 set very full. Felt perfectly balanced on my 5.3 FL immediately after trying the 5.2 Qu4d, but mine was set with less fullness. Need more time on the Qu4d to tell if I like it. The KS3 looks like a kid's rig but if it sails as advertised, I bet I'd love it too. HSM is making some extra nice stuff these days!
