""man starved"? Hmmm Dale, I didn't know you were that kind of guy. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but does Robin know? ;)

:D Almost ready, loading kites, windsurf gear, tarps etc.
Glad I installed adjustable airbag suspension on the old rv or we would be dragging our butt!

Hope to leave Wednesday/Thursday but if anyone has any last minute questions that we can help with let us know.

"Pablo's" across from the main campground in LaVentana has 3 computers that sometimes work as an internet cafe', so we will keep in touch with the bwd site with the occasional "on site report".

Martin, has anyone tried kiting at Todos Santos? Im kinda ithcing to get much better at surfing (just learning) as well and wonder if it would be worth taking the kites to the Pacific. Oh and how is the surfing there? :D

heres an article on surfing in the todos area
http://www.surfingvancouverisland.com/surf/st403.htm
i think surf sisters posted one the previous year as well.

its never a mistake to take your gear to the beach however the wind there is not particularly predictable or consistent. My last trip i surfed cerritos a bunch of times when wind quit on the east side and had great waves, but no wind.

Hi, I have heard of kiters at Cerritos (just south of Todo Santo at km65)
but haven't seen anyone out. It has only been kiteable on very few occasions that we have been there. It is mainly a surf spot. We take our boogie boards there as we don't surf.
I did speak to someone who kited just north of Todos at another surf spot.

We go to Todos for a day or two when the wind shuts down at LaVentana. It is only just over an hour to Todos from La Paz. It is about 45 minutes to La Paz from LaVentana, so some just make a day trip of it. Lots of beginner surfers at Cerritos.

While in Todos Santos you can see "Hotel California"!

Josh - tow the buggy? (The motorhome has a tow bar too.) But, how about I drive the buggy. I promise I won't break it.

Just to clarify, while I am an unusually large robin, i'm not that kind of robin, and i'm not the robin in question ...as far as i know... not that there's anything wrong with that kind of robin...

I hope to be again driving down to LaVentana Baja Mexico for 7 to 10 weeks. Leaving from Victoria hopefully in late December and returning at end of February after Carnaval (MartiGras) in LaPaz. I've got room for 1 or maybe 2 people depending on the amount of sailing gear and beach toys.
I've posted this as a new topic on the Windsurfing board as I haven't yet gone over to the dark side! ......kiteboarding.

Hey, is anyone going down for a short visit, like 2-3 weeks? We are thinking of going down for a quick run in Jan/Feb, but may postpone until we can do this right at some point.

Has anyone ever gone for a quick visit, and was it worth it?

For a short trip..... Driving from BC to Baja Sur is 50+ hours behind the wheel both ways and a minimuim of 4 days each way(recommend that you don't drive in Mexico at night). I think if you can't wangle a few extra days you will not want leave that soon. You will have fun but try to get at least 4 weeks off if you can for driving. With kite gear it's no big deal to fly....Los Cabos(Horizon/Alaska Victoria/Seattle connects 5 times a day)....Los Barilles is a real simple $100USD plus tip cab fare from the airport... Verdugos RV Park is worth the extra few $ with nice hot shows and easy walk to stores and restaurants. ...North Beach and the Free beach are just a few kilometers up the road.
For LaVentana its best to get to LaPaz but from Los Cabos take a cab to the nearby bus Station ....A bus leaves every hour for LaPaz....... If you fly into to LaPaz you shouldn't have too much trouble getting a buddy to pick you up. If you can't they have smaller sized yellow collectivo buses to San Juan de Los Planos and get off at the road to LaVentana. Flash your kite gear and hitchhike the last 8Km the locals will for sure pick you up.

Thanks for the suggestions! I agree, I think flying will be the way to go if we can't get 4 weeks off.

Cheers!
