count me in too..$20.00 it's just not same without him! but the bardo ( tibeten book of the dead, hence the clapping at the funeral etc) is 50 days i believe, Cammy can answer that one, soo all of you, we must also let him go, truly set him free so he can go to where ever he wants to go, without any of us holding him here.

The city is still totally all over putting a bench out for John. There will be a memorial plack placed on it as well.It will take a bit of time but is being considered a priority. If you have sujestions on were to place it you should call the parks dept. 361-0600

Hi all.
Collecting the funds seemed like it might be problematic.
What I'm going to try and do is put a gallon honey jar at the Park Headquarters ( 100 Cook Street ) where John worked so everyone can just stop by a drop in their contributions.
I have to get this authorized tomorrow.
I'll post when it's there.
I'll draw up a list with the names and amounts pledged so far.
You can sign off when you drop the money, looks like it will have to be cash.
I'll leave room on the list to add any names not already there.
We need to pick a date before the pyro can get permits.
I'll talk to John's dad to see if he has a preference.
Thanks for the tremendous support!

I would think if it cannot be at the beach  a bench might best be installed with a fence jog right at the "wind lookout" where kiters assess the wind, about 50-70 yards down east of the stairs. Windsurfers use the upwind spot usually, the one west 20 yards. Either of these would be great, there is a rock plateau behind the fence and we could cause it to jog outward toward the cliff and place the bench there.....everyone always has to hop that fence section anyways  to get a decent look. Johnny stood there on countless days to watch and plan his next leap 8)

Wow!
Pledge total to date is $540.
I've made arrangments for a few extra rockets, looks like we're going to get a 10" for the final blast too, awesome if I do say so, John would approve!!
Costs will go over $600, I'll update with final figure in the next couple of days.
For anybody who has not pledged just drop around to the Parks Dept. at 100 Cook St. ( entrance just south of the cricket pitch) and drop something in the jar.
We'll need money for food & stuff too.
I haven't asked the parks guys for anything yet but I'm sure they'll kick in too.
If we have enough left we could install a Nitinat cam in Johns honour or donate to the Graham Norris Foundation.

I think that anything extra should go to the Graham Norris Foundation

Great idea.
