reading the sailing logs is fun but if you dont have the time, or cant get around to logging sessions, maybe it would be good to have a quick log option, with no comments and just a selection of check boxes to quickly bang off and submit...

and for those that dont have time to read logs, but still find it interesting to know how many people are flying a sail or a kite, maybe a small graph, just a few pixels high and a bunch wide, showing the number of sessions per day overall, for a period even as long as a month, would be good...it would give a sense of how active people are (would be great if you could click on a date along the graph and see the sessions for that day, or maybe also have the peak wind registered that day as a reminder of how big a day it was)

maybe we could start having 'confirmed' sessions, and get sponsors to offer a prize for the most TOW in some 'random time frame' -- that would get people logging

Whats wrong with just using the check boxes on the current log, and leaving the comments section blank if you don't have time? Except for having to input location and wind speed you can leave some of it blank now.

If you don't want to blather publically, you can also use the 'private' comments

You can get a pretty good idea of the number of people sailing/kiting now from the 'group statistics' page on the log. It doesn't do it by day though.

I really like your idea for a prize for the most logs/logged time ! That could be a lot of work for someone to organize and get prizes though; and it might cause squabbles if its open to everyone - what about a prize for the most posts from the 'newbie' posters for the month? That would be smaller and more manageable and might still encourage people to start posting. Any leftover BWD shirts? Anyone have access to free swag stuff from industry reps?

I'd volunteer to organize, but I'm off for a month in a week's time.
