 the better question, does a guy need 2 spreader bars with an ancient seat harness? 8)

EDIT: OK Serious Dave, still funny tho.....What dave said below. the pic of the extensions shows an aluminum (cheaper but corrodes in time as just about anything and a bit heavier), a medium and a long carbon extension. Sometimes you need more than 30cm extension and the 45cm is a good option over owning another mast. Not recommended to extend a mast so far (45cm) as the strain and also the curve of the mast are affected but it is a cheaper option.
The seat harness is a women's if I recall  (Speed Flex vs. XT Seat, the Flex owners will deny this, haha), older model and there are better ones available but a seat harness is the better idea for a beginner as it lowers your center of gravity and allows you to "cheat" while you are learning and also is the preferred harness for larger sails (5.8+) to provide you a better counterweight/lower C of Gravity.
Spreader bars come in different lengths but all can work. They range between 6-12" and are to be used depending on your body style. The "medium" is on the small side. Hooks on the bar vary too, some have the roller unit on them, others have a more pronounced hook for kiting. All will work for either sport depending on your preference.....even for hobie cat sailing. Stainless ones are far superior to alu and certainly plastic are not recommended at all.....for anything

the extension needs to fit your mast. there are two different diameter masts out there, standard and reduced (skinny). you need an extension that will go as long as the luff on your sail when you add the mast. you just need one. but you also need a uj/base to fit between the extension and board.

that harness is a beauty. there are a couple newer waist style harnesses for sale on this site as well.

And just to confuse you - there were actually two different generations of skinny's, early ones were about 1.5-inch inside diameter, now standardized to about 1.25" or thereabouts. I still have my older Dynafiber mid-90's skinny and a couple Fiberspar extensions that doesn't interchange with anything current! Still works though.

I would stay away from the first used Victoria link the guy selling the mast extensions will put Ka stickers on your car when you're not looking.
