Want to be in front of cameras while kiting or windsurfing?

A professional videographer will be in a helicopter flying over the Alberni inlet filming high action windsurfing and kiteboarding.

Saturday, July 23rd 4pm
Wild West Watersports
Port Alberni, Vancouver Island, BC
</b>

Organized by the Alberni Valley Adventure Association.
The goal is to create a High Definition video to increase the awareness of the beauty and adventure aspects of the Alberni Valley. This will help demonstrate how amazing the elements of the mid-island hotspot of Port Alberni’s mountainous region are.
Additional activities to be represented will be mountain biking, diving, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, wakeboarding, soaring, climbing and ziplining. Also, beautiful scenes and lifestyle/culture images will be filmed over the course of the week.

Long-term forecast for the end of July in PA, typically the best summer weather of the year, currently looks sunny, warm and stellar!

Great, DWD, your tricky windsurfing moves will be a welcome addition for some high quality fancy footage. Not to mention that your feet will be protected when you enter the warm inlet via the newly RV-built wooden staircase at www

Anyone interested in Carpooling up from Victoria for this on Monday? We could leave around 1. I could take 2 other windsurfers and gear. It'd be nice to be able to support the kind people of WWW.

Port Alberni: filming moved up to this Saturday instead

I'm still in my wetsuit (summer thickness), because I try to stay out for long sessions, and find myself in the water a lot practising my gybes ;)

The inlet is finally starting to warm up recently, and some people are wearing shorties and/or board shorts only, especially when the sun is shining and it's hot in the city. Since the Alberni Valley is the hottest spot on the island, the water is now definately warmer than the strait, and most mid-island lakes.

Like everywhere, the warm midsummer season seems to be a month behind this year. Hearing predictions of a late indian summer. Fingers crossed!
