China Creek, Port Alberni, Kiteboarding and Kite Lessons

Post by girlonaboard »

China Creek has great daily thermal winds. Fills in by 11 am most days and then on warmer days it fills in by 1 or 3 pm. If you are traveling to kite I would plan for a 3 pm start as it is the most consistent. The beach has a safe launch that is even ok for beginners. It does have barnacles on the rocks so I recommend booties for beginner and intermediate kiters.

If you are a beginner beginner and are unable to stay up wind the practice area is small. You would get one water start or small ride before you would need to come back to the beach and start again.

To get here the camp ground has 12 k of road then 5.9k of a well maintained gravel road.

There is free parking.

Campground offers the third night free if you take lessons with Girlonaboard Kite School located in the campground.
