Baja Sur
La Ventana and El Sargento, Baja Sur will fit the bill, if your request is "some good learning conditions and meeting people in the community". You will meet the wind peeps (kiters, windsurfers, SUPers, etc) from (all over) Vancouver Island, Lower Mainland (including Squamish), Pacific Nor...

Nitinat should rock Labour Day weekend
I bet Nitinat will blow this weekend
It was nice and windy 19-24 knots in PA yesterday, marine fog bank in Alberni inlet this morning, but, forecasting for lots of heat here in PA. May not blow in PA today, but, I bet Nitinat will work.
End of summer already!

Nitinat campground - windy origins
http://www.bigwavedave.ca/gallery/albums/userpics/10550/normal_IMG_5095.JPG Another oldie but goodie. Seventeen years ago, Tom Sullivan featured windsurfing in 'Around Our Shores~Islander' while 'Surfing Nitinat' in September 10, 2000. This is when pastadude, windsurf247 and I met Tom S. , Vic Evan...

I'm a bit biased, but Starboard makes the best surfing (and race) sups. Get the starlite construction and they retail for $1800 or so, or buy a used carbon for 1500-2000. Also Starboard supports the website so they are a good choice :) Yes, Starboard rocks, and funding of BWD website means better s...

ChinaCreek OSR (with lack of bwd webcam and wind meter)
Seems like a more typical weather set-up today. Sun has burned off the morning fog. Wind started building around noon. 19-23 knots now at 1:11pm. Better wind direction and less gusty than yesterday. Time to rig!!:)

China Creek wind scene resurrection from the 90's:)
Just arrived to a half empty campground at China Creek on the Saturday of August Long weekend....a good amount of wind peeps though, just less long-term fishing people.
Half a dozen kites rigging and riding. 7 and 9 M conditions currently. Less hot than in town. Sweet!:)

Upcoming heat wave
With the surface temperature map that Rob uses, there is usually some blue and green areas indicating cooler air. Looking at this upcoming week, and long weekend on the map, the entire region (including the coast) lights up red/orange and appears to be on fire. My temperature rises just looking at i...
