what is a rough estimate on your cost of materials Doc? I just wonder if there is some industry gouging going on or if the new board prices are fair.
..and of course your time and skill are priceless.

Hey Pasta, Thanks for the kudos. SUP blank was $150.00. I used a SUP blank to get thickness and width...tons of leftover foam. Next blank will be custom and I expect to pay $60-$70. Tuttle carbon fin boxes were $125.00. Could have used Chinook for $45.00. Epoxy was $125.00. S Glass was $50.00. E Glass was $16.00. Kevlar was $20.00. Inserts were $20.00. Carbon was scrap so possibly $20.00. Corecell was left over (hence the taped together pieces) estimated cost is $40.00 max. Vacuum bag supplies were $30.00. Shop supplies were maybe $30.00. So...the envelope please...total was maybe $626.00. I believe a production board could tighten up these costs. I would go lighter on the glass next time around. Layup was: from the outer hull; 4oz E Glass - 6 oz S Glass - 3/16” Corecell - 4 oz S Glass - EPS foam core - 5 oz Kevlar (partial layer) - 4 oz S Glass (partial layer) - 3/16” Corecell - 6 oz S Glass - 4 oz E Glass. Bit of a bomber lay up. Unsure of weight at this point, but feels light. I will report when finished. This will be a few weeks ‘cause I am coming home for a spell. As far as gouging I do not know although I seem to recall that 3 times material costs is a good estimation of retail costs. So $1800.00 is in the ball park. High volume production would reduce the material costs...possibly a lot, so once sales volume gets going we might hope for lower retail costs, but that may be a pipe dream. Regardless --- Let’s Go Kite Racers!!!!
