Stalag? A prisoner of war camp? I don't ever recall Nitinat being run like a WW II POW camp.

Let's see if I get your point Nobby. If someone's dog craps on front of my tent, I should clean it up for them. Not make a fuss. If someone leaves stinking garbage by the bulletin board, I should smile and take it away for them to the dump.

That way we won't return to the iron fisted rule of Colonel Klink.

I'm pretty sure the Colonel comes to NN, but he's retired now and just keeps a low profile...

Since we are talking about NN rules in this thread and the dangers of KBing and WSing are pretty clear. I wanted to point out that the deadliness of these sports doesn't stop when you are off the water. The beach and campground are full of dangerous stuff - trees, crows, chainsaws, vehicles, people drinking, bongo players, etc...

If you look at the photo above only one of those kid's parents loves them - can you tell which one? Yup the one with the helmet on. The other kid's parents are essentially saying "brain injury?...who cares...go climb a tree!"...very sad...

Helmets are not just for kids. If you value your brain you'll wear a helmet at NN everywhere - the beach, at your camp, the shitters, sauna, etc... You never know when something might hit your head or you might fall down - especially if beer is involved...

Image

Think this is funny? I saw at least 3 camp chair failures at the lake this summer. Without a helmet those folks just tumbled back onto the rocks head first....so sad....

BTW - note the spare red helmet for any crazies that might wander over to our camp with out a helmet. We have an extra one to lend out. Don't forget safety isn't a solo thing we are all in this together!

Image

It's obvious that this kid's parents love him because they protected his feet from broken glass as her ran around the campground and also kept him safe from a lung puncture if he fell onto a sharp stick...:D

But, no helmet - really? A brain is a terrible thing to waste - especially for the young... :?

I hope we can all get Safety SMRT at NN next year and avoid reckless scenes like the one above. Adults wear your helmets anytime you are not in your tent and frankly in the tent wouldn't hurt as a drunk person can easily trip fall on your tent and injure your brain.... For the little ones there should be no question helmets, booties and chest protection 24/7 when they are at NN. :!: :!:

Thanks for being safe!!

I've just been surfing BWD and saw this Nitnat Rules thread. I've been a Nitnat windsurfer for 24 years. Started going when I was 16. I'm bringing my kids this summer for their first trip. Never have I had a bad situation camping there. If you find yourself mad, angry whatever something is very wrong with the world! Nitnat Lake is where you go to decompress. I think the number one rule would be respect. Respect to Nature and your fellow Nitnatonian.[/u]
