back loop tips
So back loopers, I need some tips. I managed to pull off a bunch off back loop attempts yesterday in the raging winds of the Wild West 8) I got around on most to the point where I was scooping the nose of the board into the water. They were all starboard jumps off of steep 3' - 4' ramps. So no...

old gear
Yup, old gear definitely still has some appeal, for some anyways. It's especially good if the local super-x course is full of hard inanimate obstacles  A few less tears when you don't quite clear them. And yes MF4, that board is still around. It's in line with a few others for some surgery :lol...

sail sizes
Good call on the board/fin. I was going to mention that too. Don't forget to factor that in. You can get way more range out of your sail quiver by using different board/fin combos. Also if you get a 5.8 with lots of low end and a 4.0 with lots of high end, you're essentially extending your sail rang...

sail sizes
I read an article once that suggested using a % factor to figure your sizes instead of equal increments. That way the smaller sizes are relative to each other. MAde sense to me. Here's an example starting with a 5.8 and a 12% factor. It works out to approximately 5.8, 5.2, 4.6, 4.0. If you want less...

storage
Hey Kus...you should add these "gear pics" to your buy and sell ads although maybe not too appealing seeing them all jammed in together  Tempy - Kus' sail washing hooks are an awesome touch if you have a hose nearby. Make sure you let them dry well so you don't end with moldy joists :...

storage
Hey Tempy! Upright storage is great if you have the height. Horizontal storage works but flat surfaces tend to collect stuff. You can store boards, sails and masts this way and hang all your booms on a large shelf bracket screwed into a stud. You may want to hang your sails on some sort of peg rack ...

tenants
I agree. San Pen is where it's at if you want rural near Vic. Get a place with a suite or some other form of mortgage helper and you've got a big chunk of your mortgage covered. Don't forget about renting buildings to trades people or renting land for RV/boat storage. Workshop space is tough to find...

wind prediction
So I've been trying to figure out the factors that affect the wind here in Port Alberni. Historically, people have used the temp difference formula (Tofino-PA). Seems to me that the temps in Bamfield or Ucluelet would be more appropriate as they're closer to the mouth of the inlet. It appears that U...

launch
Hey MOrley. Good question. The kite launch will likely be available for all to use but like you said, will have priority for kites launching and landing. Once the kite launch is in place, we'll be looking at making improvements to the windsurfing launch. As Sandy mentioned, the logs have all been re...
