Holy Jellyfish, Batman!!

Post by KUS »

Anyone catch the Nat Geo film last nite? A bit dated already I see but.....Scary crap, the Aussie deadly one is now found in most ocean dead zones and due to ocean warming trends is spreading (read: polluted waters) and including the southern Oregon, Cal and Mexican Pacific coast apparently  The documentary covered a nasty attack on a marines diver in Florida. Tiny invisible little guys, the irukandji is becoming ever more prominent and increasing territory, and check these monsters now all over Japan and floating toward Hawaii

Yep, I watched in horror! I think it was box jellies or something like them I ran into in Mexico - saw a bunch snorkeling one day, the next they washed up on the beach and I got tentacles wrapped around my ankle - excruciating, left a firey red burn wherever they touched that lasted about 6 weeks.

More news that the planet is in very bad shape - and simple organisms are all ready to move in to be 'top dog' again!

So sleek and invisible, you'll hardly notice you're wearing one!

Yep, those will help (especially with something for the feet) but the Navy Seal who died in Hawaii from the nearly microscopic nasty only had a bit of his cheek exposed. And what is it, two days of agony before you die? Sure hope the program was wrong and that their numbers aren't exploding all over the world from pollution! It would be nice to see a followup report.

I love hittin' the Euro-clubs later in mine (my red speedo looks cooler on the outside of the Stinger suit though). I'm a pretty good dancer.

Only prissy kiters do that WDoc! For windsurfers, you got to do the speedos on the inside, but for real watermen like yourself (kite, windsurf, surf, etc etc) I think going commando gets the most attention.

Of course this also makes the option of becoming the 'stingee' and 'pre-emptively stinging the stinger with your stinger entirely possible.
