Sail/Kitetogether New Years Day 2010 (6th Annual??)

Post by KUS »

Island View Beach has a fairly high tide a 1100 so perhaps not most user friendly for all. But hey, the waves will be great!! I am also open to Willows but the high tide is at 1030 and may be really flat afterward.

Maybe to avoid confusion we should vote? I will bring pop, beers, kusschine for warm water, chips, tea or hot chocolate. I ate all the rest of our food over Xmas  but maybe will have some hot dogs and sushi too

If the forecast really comes through with 35 knots, I'd rather sail Willows, but IV is great for watching the action through RV windows! And if its really too much for us wimpy sailors, we can do a short drive to Cordova Spit for some glassy flat blasting, or try W247s new favourite launch of Amity. Dunno if that works for kites, Cordova certainly would (be jealous of Comox kiters no more!).

I'm probably in the same boat as MF4. Will go for Willows because it's close and I'm more likely to get some good TOW but will drop in at IV if it's ragin to see what others are up to. Have not tried the Amity launch but curious...

I'll probably make up my mind tomorrow where I'll go but it seems IV is the favorite right now, if Willows is gusting to 40 maybe IV would be too much to survive well. The full day steady 30-35 has me wondering if the model is "on" tho, would be something if it comes true. But if so, waves at IV will be wonderful unless things jump to 40, then  :x

We'll see about it early tomorrow I guess. Right now I see nobody voting for Willows, Keen you'll be okay I figure. Onshore break at WB is just as tough as Sideshore break at IV
