I'd volunteer for that :P but I don't like authority much....maybe Drinking Liaison or "buddy" is more my speed

Obvious suggestion- I think you may wanna check with Parks and the D. Band before making big plans  At least someone's got the dates right this time

Why on earth would the event be held on a windy weekend? why not wait until the wind dies later in the season like in the past? this just sounds silly :P

Having being a bit involved in similar events last season, I think you need more the 5 days to see if the necessary pieces are in place. Ie. parks, several credible judges, actual sponsors who front $$$ etc.
Don't forget to bring a towel!

hey nanmoo we have judges etc from the bc sailing association for racing, but not fr freestyle

this is a litmus test to see if the local community would be interested in helping out. if enough people raise their hand then i will work on all the other details

i want to give canadian kite board association enough time to find an alternate venue if the local crew aren't up for it.

IFCA is offering a freestyle judging certification coming up in April, maybe BC Sailing should pay for a few of us to go ;)

Hi Winddude

I would suggest that you join BC Sailing, attend a few meetings and become a member of a BC sailing registered club. Squamish wind sports is registered and is fairly cheap. That will give you some clout at the table.

Water rescue may be sorted. And possibly a couple landers.

Still need a few more bodies though.

any words with the band on this??

I don't see this happening without their consent and it might take a few months to get talking about it... so good luck

I can help elsewhere if this actually gets off the ground.

Still need a few more volunteers before I can be confident that it's doable. Once I get like two or three more people I will notify the people at squamish that it's a go and start talking to the band and parks Canada.

Friday is the cut off. So if you're on the fence hop off and raise your hand!

Hey folks

Looks like this is a go. The folks at Squamish are pumped. Looks like safety is sorted. Still need a bunch of volunteers, but mark your calendars- windfest is on!

Will start collaborating with parks and rec and the D band now. Any advice would be appreciated.

We have the Jet Skis covered. Can help with other stuff on those days too when we are not on the water.
