A SCA remains in effect for the coastal waters through this evening. Additional SCAs have gone into effect for the central/east strait later this morning through the evening as a quick burst of westerlies up to 25-30 kt are possible during the afternoon today. The next disturbance will arrive on Tuesday with more breezy winds and probabilities for SCAs. High pressure briefly builds over the region Wednesday into Thursday before the next low pressure system looks to arrive Thursday night into Friday. Seas will remain at around to 9 to 10 ft today. Seas then gradually decrease around 8 to 9 ft Tuesday before relaxing to 5 to 7 ft Wednesday. The next system Thursday night may raise seas above 10 ft once again. • How long have the little popups with stats and links been on here?  Day count since your last session, or a link to your windiest session ever (apparently Dec 23, 2010 for me, interesting read), most used bit of kit and other random things!  Its a fun addition!

  • “Downwinding”??
    1
    • Downwinding as in either SUP paddling up onto foil, and going DW or using a Parawing to get up onto foil and going DW with chute packed away then redeploying and doing laps back UW. This is all focused around chasing bumps going DW, not mowing the lawn/freeriding.

      • I think it's pretty cool to see people out there pushing the limits with these new sports:

      • So windsurf wave riding is now down-winding, kiting or Sup ing downwind riding is also downwinding ….got it B)

  • “Thank you for sending your message to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

As per the latest update, the technician responsible for the Ballenas station is on leave. Trying to work on a solution to charge the station if coast guard unable to do so. The estimated time to get station back online is by end of April.

The Ballenas weather station has been defunct for almost four months and is key for nautical safety in our strait.  Can someone please repair?  I was told by DFO it belongs to coastguard. Coastguard tells me it's Environments.

    • That’s fantastic Ray!!  I was just thinking how all 3 local cams have been lost as well as Ballenas WX, hopefully the latter will be fixed soon

  • How about everyone that was lucky enough to get out on/over the water today, logs their session..?? If 10 people post their session today, I’ll donate $100 to BWD tomorrow.
