Slogging on my first round. Got back to the beach and sat down just as the wind arrived :) Fun session after that, almost overpowered at times on the 6M Nova, but a few lulls too until it backed off just in time for lunch. Good to see all the optimists out. [/img]

After almost 2 months off the water, made the trek north to the promised land or waters or whatever -- which looked underwhelming and flat upon arrival. Thankfully it filled in fairly soon but still flat.

Powered up ok for the first hour and a bit but then it got holey/gusty so a bit of slog fest. Barely sailed out of some sketchy/lame underpowered loops. Didn't stick around to wait for it to pick up.

Not what I'd hoped for but great to see some of the regulars after so long away.

Windsurfing! Gong show rigging the 4.6; forgot my settings as well as which mast combo goes in. Koooooook. Foil brain has wiped my memory of rigging WS sails. Finally got my shite together and had one good loop and one good wave ride/smack. Yep, windsurfing is still super fun! Unless you're underpowered! Fun day overall. Sealion was barking insults at me when I crashed near her.

John Lum and I representing the wing crew today. Fun session powered up on the 925. Some really great rides in "middles" where the 925 could really run. Such an amazing foil to carve at high speed. Took one crash today where my foil and board did a double backflip. Great to see the windsurfing crew out. Kus launched a beautiful, floaty backie, maybe the best I've seen from him! Still one of my favourite moves to see from the water. Ozy hit some great loops.

The wild SE wind are here! This one was good on the west coast. Typically it is pissing down rain and crazy gusty. Today was steady and not much rain. Good day for giving a windsurf lessons, Got one of my students the taste of strong winds and an intro to harnessing. She was stoked! The boat launch in Ukee is actually a doable spot. Just a big Nimpkish style wind shadow near shore.

After lesson, met Dave B from Comox checking out the spot. He was stoked to get out there and practice winging. I grab my wing ... (more)

Headed up island and met up with Clayton at San Pareil. Good news there was no rain, bad news it was initially really gusty. Rigged to 12m but had a tough time getting the kite to stay in the air in the gusty conditions initially until I got about 50 yards out and the wind become more consistent and really strong. Played a bit with both the surfboard and foil (still lots to learn on the foil), ended up switching the kite for a 9m as it was way too strong for the 12m. The wind filled in a bit more along ... Got catapulted in the harness with my weight too far forward as I groped for the back footstrap. Fell hard twice as a result of kicking it instead of getting my foot in. Starting to get a few jibes in rougher water instead of just in flat water. Good crew out all wings and a couple kites, Could have used the 6M at the end but then it just shut off drifted in and walked back.

Caught the tail end of some breeze and was down by Hollywood when it lightened up and spent the rest of the time trying to catch puffs into shore. Fortunately wasn't an East current on the point there otherwise I could have been in for a really long shame walk.

Still, always nice to be out in beautiful Ross Bay for a sunset.

    1.50 hours
Clear, sunny day and finally some wind was happening, after the last few duldrum/calm days.

Rob and I were the only ones on the water at China Creek with the resident sea lions (2) who were watching us 'mow the lawn'. I felt a little safer, but still was nervous with them being there, as, I was flying on the foil for most of my session. Rob was kiting with his 12 M ROAM and was body dragging close to them a few times.

Respect for the sea lions, who live and play in the inlet every day/night, as we only play ... (more)

Sweet 2hr session at the Spit in steady SW 20-22. 12m was fully depowered so quickly switched to 8m+surfboard. Fun riding small smooth swell toeside. No problem pinching upwind into the blue water.

Dangk. Picked up as forecasted, slightly above, about 4pm, so rushed down. Looked holey and quite North, but forecast was WSW so figured it would fill in. Got foiling in 14ish soon after, then it went back to NW and tanked. Looked good way outside Warrior Pt. but wouldn't come in.

Checked out the abandoned sailboat as I couldn't stay on the board or upwind at 2 knots or whatever so looked in the windows to see what condition it was in ' though I already had an idea from its smelly wind shadow. ... (more)

A bit jaded on missing the first fall SE at IV so I was determined to get on the water today. Had the family out there early and it felt doable so returned with gear and got some foil time. Utilized the flat water to work on toeside tacks and was managed all the way around on foil twice which felt good. Pushing the wing over made the difference. Also tried riding backwinded and it is starting to get more natural feeling. On one catapult riding switch I launched in front of the board and was expecting the bo ... (more)

WOW!! Great surprise session. Drove to IV and it was <10 so looked at BWD reports and Vic Airport was 10-15kts. So drove to Bazan Bay and it was raining and 10kts. Waited for 20 mins rain stopped and started to clear, then wind picked up to 12-15kts so rigged the 6.0m flyer. Got out on the water quick and 2!pumps and BOOM, foiling!! Never came off the foil in an hour and 15 mins. Touched down in a couple gybes but right back up. Perfect condition for first hour. Sailed over to Sidney spit and then all th ... (more)
