Another day, another awesome Willows wingfoil session. The webcam looked good all day but I wasn't able to play until just before suppertime. The wind on the beach seemed weak at about 12kt W so I rigged Cab6. Got in the water about 330 and I was quickly foiling just off the beach and, I thought, I may have oversized. But, there was no going back, I didn't have a lot of time so I sucked it up and stayed on the 6m. I saw Bobson ripping fast out of CP and saw the winds were even bigger out there. I was overpo ... Arrived to folks coming in to rig down. 4m was great for a while, then 3m was too much. Had some truly spectacular rides. Started getting slammed and called it a day. Very nearly foiled out of a tack too.
Epic waves to start but fading wind and tough on the 2.5/800. Came in to rig bigger and as soon as I did that it came back. Stuck it out the the 3.5 for a while and it was okay but the waves were smaller. The wind slowly increased, so back to 2.5 and the waves jacked up again. So fun with the 2.5 and loving the 800. It just takes some wind to get going.
Challenging Afternoon. Wind was up and down and seemed to be changing direction every 15 mins... Last 30ish minutes had some of my best swell rides down into the Ross Bay corner, nicely groomed swell... realized I have been foiling around with straight legs, so started bending the ol knees and finding lots more control.
Since the White Rock sensor was only reading S 16, I went to check out the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal and scored another 2 hrs in SW 20-25 under sunny sky with respectable knee high waves on 8m+surfboard. After finishing my solo session, drummermom and Roxstock scored decent boosting sessions.
Pretty happy to score 5 wave sessions since last Friday.
Finished my morning meetings early so darted to 3rd Ave before it clocked. At 10am enjoyed S 18-22 with tons of waist high waves on 8m+surfboard. Didn't want to push my luck so called it quits when the wind became funky.

Fantastic 1st session on 3m with lots of nice bowls to play in. So fun. Wind got funky so glided back in as it shut off. Big cloud smothered the action. Wind came back up hard and I was on a 4m lit up. More great rides for another hour (no GPS for second session). Great day.
Decided that RB was too crazy so went for the safety of Willows/CP. tried out the SuperCruiser 1700 front wing. Still not impressed. Too slow, although I was able to get up on the foil with a 4.5m in probably 13-15kts. Couple pumps, step back and fly!! Saw HighRocker foiling off Willows. Tried the big foil for 45 mins then decided to go back to the 1100 and long fuse for last 30 mins and it was so much easier. Gusty but doable. When the 30+ gusts came, I got worked over so called it a day. Hoping for more a ... (more)

Wrong day to forget smaller front wing and have a torn 3m, but actually the 4m was good up until the point that the sea was beyond my skill level anyways.
Started weird with it dying followed by a big squall, followed by pretty steady wind perfect for 4m. Had some exciting times.
Towards the end it was getting sketchy. Going up wind I went into such a steep trough and the wing was so powered that I pretty much hung from it and my arms almost got torn off my
body! Another time I lost control right at t ... (more)

Epic two hours on the 4.2m and 1650cm2 foil. A few overpowered gusts at 0930 launch but settled down to steady wind for most of the session, except a few strong gusts near the end before it went too SW.
That was a bad idea. My knee has been giving me trouble for a few weeks. Finally stopped hurting a few days ago Soni thought I would try a mellow session in the flat water at the Spit. Surfboard only. Second transition and I knew it was a bad idea. Back on crutches now. Hope the doctor has some good news. Time for an MRI.

After missing a glorious session at RB yesterday I was hoping for a retake today.
11:30 Whitecaps in the bay! HiRock and Mike already out on 5m. Put in on the 6m and 1750cm. We got 14-16 kts for a good two hours. Switched to the 1250cm and new harness lines halfway through. I photobombed HiRock's GPro, flying close up, auditioning for a part in his YT video session. Around 2 o'clock the wind dropped ending our session.
It picked up again briefly late afternoon. Bobson joined in for the second s ... (more)
Couldn't get off work till 3:45pm so raced to Willows but alas I was too late. Looked like 10-12kt gusts when I arrived. Danno and I rigged at the same time. I got out first and tried hard for 30 mins heading towards the wind but not enough to foil so I turned around out by 1st channel marker and headed straight downwind back. Danno was already back and waited nicely by his car to ensure I made it back. Got to within 100m of the beach before the wind completely shut off to 0. Pumped sail the last 100m tha ... (more)
Best session of the year - even better than Friday's 5m session. Endless waist high breaking wave rides on 8m+surfboard with Luke 7m+kite foil in steady SSE 18-22. Long day from 9am to 2pm with water and lunch breaks for 3.5 hrs of wave riding. Later joined by Jim and Deb and a couple of more kiters and wingers.
Called it quits after 2pm as waves become disorganized ... and avoided the Massey Tunnel traffic jam.

Good times on the 1650cm2 foil and 3.5m2 wing! Steady wind and the weeds that the last storm brought up already gone. 3 1/2 hrs TOW and almost all on foil.
Wind a little light at launch at 10am, but slowly picked up through-out. Glad to have a little bigger foil to float through the lulls, wing felt light and in control!
I had only a small window but used it well. Tried out my new ART 1099. Awesome with some learning curves so had to spend some adjusting my take off and back to square one on tacking. Amazing afternoon. Great to see everyone just gunning it for some wind, waves and sun.

What an afternoon! Arrived to about 15kts with some wingers and wingfoilers already out in RB. It was perfect for foiling with a 10m kite at the start but it continued to build and I soon had no depower left. Made the call to switch to twin tip and had a great hour boosting off the kickers and playing in the flat water on the lee side of clover. Felt like a spring day. Quite a reward after yesterday's disappointment at IV.

What a great end to the weekend! A beautiful spring like day, sunny, 12+ temp, easy wind and some nice swell rides down deep into St Charles corner. So good. Nothing better than a great day on the bay!
That was a ton of Fun! Shared the water with CB for about 45mins until others joined in and it was great to foil with the sun on my back and pretty mellow seas. Near the end the wind did start to crank and I was way overpowered so headed/dragged my way back in, nice to end the weekend with sessions on both Sat and Sun.
Was not expecting much. Headed down when I saw some trees start moving at my house. Bunch of the crew setting sail as I got there but looked pretty marginal. Hung out with Archie for about 15-20 mins on the beach, and then headed out on the 5m. Great session to work on some flat water maneuvers. Energy level felt a little low after 45 mins, so came in and had a Guinness on the beach, which did the trick for another 20 mins before sunset. Was actually OP'd on the 5m. Good times, good crowd! I echo Bobson's report of "AMAZING", from the Willows view. There wasn't much when I got there, but the ripples told me it was coming. I was on my old faithful lift-every-time Cab6, and by mid bay it was 12kt, I was on foil all the way out to the Islets and back to the teahouse. There was some swelly bits to play in out in the channel and the wind was gusting to 20ish occasionally overpowering the 6m. I'm lucky that Cab is so solid and predictable and forgiving for newbs! Lots of time on foil exce ... (more)

Arrived just as Bobson was rigging. Kept looking better as I watched. Happy that my initial disappointment that the model had downgraded proved unfounded. Wind just kept improving. Brett was hitting some nice 360s. Not much swell to ride and I had to take off early. MA1225 keeps impressing me!
Nice session and 3 days in a row. Light at first but it slowly ramped up and was OP at the end. Some fun small and steep swells. Spent a while trying to figure out the harness lines. They always seemed to be the perfect length for smacking me in the eye but not much else.

Late session started a bit light with occasional 15 knots then ramped up 40 minutes before sunset with strong gusts rattling the sheeted out canopy overpowered. I find i can really drive to windward in those conditions its so easy to get weight off the board and turn down at the end of the gust to regain speed. . Sean on a slappy board forgot his big sail mast and nuts for a foil and later Stefan overpowered on a 6 wing, he rerigged 5 and sailed till sunset.
Well that was AMAZING!! Arrived to possibly 10 with some 13kt gusts coming through but looking like more was possible. Windoc and a couple others arrived as I had the 7.0m out and was beginning to rig it but it looked like it was gettting windier so I was going to rig the 5.2m as 'for sure' it was going to increase. If I did and it didn't increase it would be my fault so I took one for the team and stayed with the 7.0m. Just what he (Wind) Doctor ordered. I headed out with Mark A and we both foiled right aw ...
