Do you have to use a screwdriver to get the paddle off?winddoctor wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 1:30 pm Clever design! Go Pro mount is pretty slick too. DW paddle option is brilliant.

And of course the south island has occasional low end wind (good for foiling though) even on sunny days like today. You should have been here a month or two ago! If you prone or SUP by surf driving west from Victoria you'll also find some south island spots and I'm sure you've heard about Tofino area.

Re: Downwind foil with assist
Such an interesting post Kayakdoc! Its fascinating to see the developments of free thinking even if I'll likely never be able to participate. Going outside of the kite/wing world and adapting Moth technology that https://www.sailingscuttlebutt.com/2015/04/15/adam-koch-expanding-boundaries/ was doing...

Thanks that is great! I didn't know you were there either, if I knew you were recording I would have done more photogenic crashes!

So.............. All the initial hype about a wing floating docilely beside or behind you out of the way and out of mind while you are free to surf the wave .......... is another case of 'alternate truth' :?: :!:  :D :D :D :D :D :D Fun to see people pushing the envelope on whats possible. Thes...

Highrocker, how strong is that wind? It looks like a good workout and all the speed most newbies would want that aren't looking to foil.

Re: Wing vs regular windsurfing sail
Probably right on all your comments Winddoc and ittiandro clarified he already had a windsurf sail. For people who just want to drift around at the cottage or campground without always paddling, and have never experienced fast planing or foiling, I think a wing would be OK. Its so much easier than u...

Re: Wing vs regular windsurfing sail
What do you mean by a 'retractable centre fin'? Is this anything like a sailboard centreboard? This isn't one of those little centre fins that things like Starboard Start boards have? I suspect they are not going to do well. The Kona boards have a long, high aspect/high performance centreboard and i...

Re: Flat water foiling spots
What about the lee side of cordova spit in Saanichton Bay? I remember watching a couple speed sailing there in a big SE 20+ years ago. The spit is very low so little wind disturbance and the water was butter flat even in 40 knots, it would be silk at 15 or 20. Used to be able to access the regional ...

Re: Night rides with LEDs
Thanks for that Tweezer, so it can be done! I think the guy with the orange wing and the LED on the back of his board pointed downwards was much more visible in terms of understanding his location and board position/likely track than the other two with just headlamps. Mounted under the board like th...

Re: Dip Start
That is a great video, I've watched it through a few times now and learn something new each time. Not sure I've ever been 'athletic' and pretty sure the ship has sailed for ever managing the dip start, but I'd at least try it out now to see if I could use a small board. The third method using the ce...

I tried to find one last year, couldn't. Comox Kite does drysuit repairs, but not wetsuit. Let us know if you find a repair place.

Re: Foiling Spinout
I was getting some weird stall/spinout feelings yesterday, mostly after going through the tide lines where debris concentrated. I thought I picked up some weed on the foil (instead of on the way home at a cannabis store ) but it cured itself after a short while each time.
