Huge Thanks to Steph for keeping everyone updated with Paul's progress reports. Hopping down to the 'step down unit' today. Wow.... what progress
The little tube with the ball they are talking about on the blog is an incentive spirometer. The exercise of sucking into it raises the small ball and helps inflate the lower lobes of the lungs.

Paul and Sandra are an inspiration for sure!
Paul's been moved out of the ICU to the "Step Down Unit" already. Sandra got her first full night's sleep in ages. The recovery process is still full of challenges and potentially large obstacles but I'm sure they'll both meet them head-on and with the strength that they've mustered all through this journey.
Paul will likely remain in Toronto for the typical three month period of recovery post- transplant. Daily physio and regular exams will be the routine for the next while. Barring any complications, Paul and Sandra could be back in Victoria as early as the beginning of August!
Thanks to this amazing community for the overwhelming support; it means so much (and will continue to do so) to P & S.

"Paul feels very strongly that the prayers and love that everyone have
sent out are the entire reason he is doing so well. He also wants
everyone to understand that this is still such a critical time of
healing and recovery that he needs your prayers more than ever. I
have assured him that there is no slow in the flow."
