The first web cam (cam#1) was installed on May 30, 2003 at Jack and Kathy's house about 3 houses upwind of the Gordon's Beach sailing site in Sooke, BC The webcam is normally pointed towards the Sheringham Point lighthouse (West).

The second web cam (cam#2) was installed on May 15, 2005 at the same house and points downwind (South) towards the sailing site.

Cam#1 is live streaming and also auto refreshes every 60 seconds, and cam#2 every 30 seconds during daylight hours. The upwind cam#1 usually looks windier than cam#2, and it seems that cam#2 gives a better estimate of the wind on the water. The cam#2 webcam picture shows the winds at Sheringham Point (2km west of the sailing spot) and at the Gordon's Beach weather station. Sheringham Point winds update every hour and give a good indication of the wind on the water. The best winds are from the NW/W.
