Happy! Even though the actuals were tanking I decided to drive west on spec and hope the forecast for mid-day wind was right. Arrived about 8 am to fa really odd setup - glass at Jericho, tankers in English Bay pointing south and only a breeze at Acadia. I had some time alone to enjoy the morning and was visited by a sea otter. Mike arrived and we checked out the new system of barrier railings and waited for the wind to fill in. The wind finally arrived about 9:30 am and I decided to rig big gear (5.3/115) about 10 am. By the time Mike and I got rigged it was obvious our gear was too big, but we took to the water anyway. Flattening my sail, didn't help! Still way too much! Simon and a seal both joined the party. I rerigged 4.5/92 and that was golden! Pure magic for the heart of the session! Well powered, fun ramps to port and waves with enough shape and power that you could pretend to be wave riding! Even banged off a solid jump to starboard on a nice hip! A couple of kites sailed through (including Alton). Sun, wind, warm water, wind swell, other sailors sharing the stoke! That was super fun!
