Wetsuits

Post by Stephen. »

I am looking to get my wife a wetsuit and was curious if anyone knew which was the best. She would be using it for surfing so a dry suit probably wouldn't be ideal.

Hi Stephen:

Try this link. I bought an Excel suit a month ago and it is super toasty. If she is a cold person get a 6/5/4, else get the 5/4/3. I got the 6mm and I overheat if I don't fall in after 5mins.

I bought it at Switch. They moved and are now in Colwood near London Drugs.

Good luck
dave

hey stephen;
I got a body glove 5-4-3 titanium spider (hooded steamer) about 5 years ago for $500. My buddy bought the same suit the next summer for about $350. Their models have changed of course but I would definitely check them out if I needed a new suit. I'm skinny, I like to be cozy. and this suit has never let me down. Possibly the best piece of equipment I own. Body Glove is big so I'm sure you could get one and their sizing seems right on so ordering wouldn't be bad.
You're a very nice guy to get your wife a wetsuit.

oh yeah;
Pair that suit up with the Whites titanium (zipperless) booties I got last summer and you're really toasty. I've gone through a lot of booties in my time and these are the best I've ever had. About $70 but worth it.

I bought a BARE Velocity 5/4 http://www.bare-wetsuits.com/bareshop/w ... f_id=61435 at Frank White's earlier this year for $249. You may want to check them out for other deals.

If its for your girl, make sure it fits her reallllly well. Women tend to get cold a lot faster than men, which means a shorter session for both of you ... So try and find a female specific suit like a Roxy, or XCEL makes womens suits too - and they are a great bang for your buck. For anyone else out there, the best thing I ever bought was a kite specific suit - PROLIMIT - Fits way nicer, way warmer in the wind, and great details for secure fit
